Home is where the pool is. When nature’s water bodies are beyond our easy access, we bring them home in the form of swimming pools.

Here the flamboyant curves of the pool run the length of the house as the pool increases in width while streaming by the dining hall culminating beneath the raised pavilion shelter.

The salle à manger sits almost in level with the water edge, as if they were one, amplifying the ‘inside-outside-outside-inside’ living concept. Both elements are separated by large aluminium-framed glass accordion doors.

Jump in and lose yourself. You’re only one swim away from a good mood.

Architecture is an art form, especially in a time when all art forms are transitional and definitions are blurry.

Coif or cornette-inspired, curvy swales in wavelike form, undulating S-shapes of cyma recta and cyma reversa profiles – descriptions of the all-glass roof entry gateway as its ends shown here floating above the fringes of our man-made tropical forest.

To be freer, moving more towards sculptural form, yet meeting both specs and functionality.

Studies of the living hall – as a reception/transitory space; experimentations on a wide-angle view and depth of field when viewed from the moment you walk through the main door.

The ruggedness yet flawed beauty of bulging Vigan tiles, abaca rope accents, lumpy wall plaster finish – it is a ‘wabi-sabi’ – the Japanese art form centering on the acceptance of transience and imperfection; appreciating beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.

Plus, the bright, pleasant, serene setting engulfed in the perpetual graces of natural light. Careful planning of fenestrations and cross ventilation assuring that visual emphasis remains with the porosity of the space – its uncluttered connection to the outdoors.

This pool timber deck lounge has everyone dreaming of summer vacation. It embraces the outdoors and frames a priceless view making it the perfect place to hang out. Giving vacation vibes, it receives the swimming pool on one end and opens straight into the neighbouring secondary forest behind while overlooking the vast cantilevered ‘party’ deck below.

Tucked into the corner and keeping things open and airy, its deep genius loci feels nice and intimate – a true escape.
