Coconut Palace: A Sustainable Masterpiece by Filipino Architect Francisco Mañosa 🌴

The Coconut Palace in Pasay City, Philippines, designed by Filipino architect Francisco Mañosa is a prime example of sustainable architecture that utilizes efficienct energy and passive design. Its architecture consists of various eco-friendly elements that contribute to its environmental sustainability.

The Coconut Palace uses local sustainable materials such as coconut shells and lumber, seashells, and capiz shells. Using these local and sustainable materials not only reduces the environmental footprint of the construction process but also showcases the rich natural resources of the Philippines. In addition, sourcing sustainable materials locally supports the local economy. However, replicating the architecture of the Coconut Palace on a larger scale has its challenges, one being the cost and limitations in the availability of the materials to implement large scale projects.

Not only are the materials used sustainable, the Coconut Palace's design is also energy efficient, utilizing passive design through natural ventilation and lighting solutions. The use of natural ventilation through large windows and open spaces allows cross-ventilation, and reduces the need for artificial cooling and lighting.
