Some homes are built for everyday living.
Others are built for coming home.
This 1-bedroom unit at Winland Tower is being envisioned for a senior client who has spent much of her life abroad.
Her plan is simple but meaningful โ to have a place of her own here in Cebu, a home she can return to whenever she comes home.
When we first conducted the site ocular, the unit was far from the warm and comfortable home we envisioned for her. Parts of the ceiling had already been demolished, electrical and MEP services were exposed, the kitchen was partially dismantled, and the existing walls showed years of patching and imperfections.
But sometimes, renovation is not really about changing a space.
It is about preparing a space for a new chapter in someone's life.
For this project, we wanted the home to feel calm the moment she walks through the door.
Warm wood tones.
Soft cream walls.
Gentle lighting.
Natural textures.
Clean lines.
Comfortable furniture.
And enough built-in storage to keep everything organized without making the space feel crowded.
The design is intentionally quiet.
Nothing too loud. Nothing excessive.
Just a warm, contemporary interior that feels familiar, comfortable, and easy to live in.
We also incorporated the things that matter for her future use of the home โ a wider balcony sliding door, a larger bedroom window, a wheelchair-accessible bedroom entrance, a built-in shoe cabinet, pantry, linen storage, and a more carefully planned lighting and ceiling system.
The bedroom was designed to feel more like a private retreat than simply a place to sleep.
The living area was planned as a space where she can relax, watch a movie, have coffee, or simply enjoy being home.
And the kitchen and dining area were designed around everyday convenience โ because retirement should be about enjoying the home, not maintaining a complicated one.
For us, this project is more than a condominium renovation.
It is about creating a place to come home to.
A place where, after years of living abroad, she can finally slow down, enjoy her time in Cebu, and create new memories with family and loved ones.
This is what we believe good design should do.
Not just make a space beautiful.
But make life in that space better.
