Syngonium plants are not just decorative, they have the ability to cleanse the air you, breathe and act as anti-pollutants. These plants can reduce components of indoor air pollution, even volatile organic compounds such as benzene, formaldehyde, toluene, and xylene. They also reduce airborne microbes and increase humidity.

Caring is an easy task for this species. Syngonium/ Goosefoot plant/ Arrowhead Vine is an excellent houseplant for low light (no matter what you call it!). Popular for more than a hundred years, arrowhead plant has withstood the test of time because it's both attractive and easy to grow. Young arrowhead plants are bushy and usually pretty full, making them attractive indoor plant choices for coffee tables, side tables, and other surfaces.

Light: Does best in bright filtered light. It should never be subjected to direct sunlight, as that would scorch the leaves. If you notice more growth on one side then turn the pot because that side is likely to be receiving more light (this will even growth out).

Watering: Keep the soil moist during the growing period. Allow the plant to dry out slightly between waterings in winter.

Hoya Krimson Queen is a beautiful houseplant that’s a joy to grow. This article provides a deep dive into growing Hoya Krimson Queen plants. It will end up being very long (spoiler alert), and you may not have time for that. For your convenience, we’ll add some quick facts below. If you need more information, you can scroll down and see full details and recommendations.

Scientific/Common Name: Hoya Carnosa (variegated)

Origin: Hoyas are native to Asia and Australia and were cultivated more than 200 years ago. A variant of Hoya Carnosa, the Krimson Queen, was first coined as The Hoya TriColor as its waxy leaves sport variegation which can range from bright pink to white.

Mature Height: This plant is a climber and a draper and most often grown on a trellis or hanging basket. When grown indoors, its tendrils generally reach up to 11-20″ in length.

Distinguishing Features: Thick waxy leaves which grow in clusters on the vine. Its green leaves are framed in colors ranging from cream to pink.

Home Placement: When grown inside, Hoya Krimson Queen will do well in a south or west-facing window. This houseplant enjoys bright light that is mostly indirect.

Growth Speed: Hoyas are relatively fast-growing, though not as fast as other vine plants. The Krimson Queen’s vines usually grow more quickly than other Hoya variations.

Light Requirements: This Hoya enjoys bright, indirect light. However, a little direct sunlight can be a good thing – especially when it comes in the spring and winter. This can encourage flowering and bring out the pink color in the Krimson Queen. However, be cautious of bright direct light on warm summer days, as the Hoya leaves will scorch.

Watering Requirements: Hoyas store water in their lush, succulent-like leaves. So, like succulents, they are somewhat drought tolerant. Leaving them unattended over your vacation shouldn’t keep it from thriving. Water 1-3 times per week.

NJoy Pothos Care: Growing The N-Joy Pothos Plant

Epipremnum (ep-ih-PREM-num), known as Pothos plants are one of the few successful genera enjoyed in homes and offices.

Hailing from the Araceae family, these beautiful perennials resemble philodendrons in many ways. Several types of Pothos cultivars have been marketed. This includes the beautiful Epipremnum Pothos ‘NJoy’ with its unique capitalization.

The cultivar originates from the Marble Queen Pothos. Its name is spelled ‘NJoy’ but has numerous variations. The alternate botanical name is Epipremnum aureum ‘ N-Joy.

Pothos originates in parts of Australia and Southeast Asia. Many cultivars originate in the United States.

Pothos NJoy Care

Size & Growth

Pothos can grow to 50′ feet or more in the wild, but NJoy is far more compact. NJoy reaches a height of 6″ to 9″ inches and can trail or climb up to 10′ feet.

The trailing stems of heart shaped leaves will root when they come into contact with soil.

‘NJoy’ has intense green color with cream to yellow variegation. It has smaller leaves than most pothos plants.

The amount of variegation changes depending on the amount of light. Plants grown in darker conditions fade to straight green. Brighter conditions produce more prominent variegated leaves.

Flowering and Fragrance

As with other pothos plants, ‘N-Joy’ is prized for its foliage. Blooms are rare.

Light Conditions & Temperature

As with other Pothos plants, ‘NJoy’ prefers a bright, indirect light to partial shade.

Direct sunlight will damage the leaves. Low light will cause the variegation to fade.

It will grow well under a fluorescent light source, making it an excellent choice for offices.

These plants come from tropical areas and cannot handle temperatures below 55° degrees Fahrenheit

Common Name: HOSTA
Type: Herbaceous perennial
Family: Asparagaceae
Height: 1.50 to 2.00 feet
Spread: 3.00 to 5.00 feet
Bloom Time: July to August
Bloom Description: White
Sun: Part shade to full shade
Water: Medium
Maintenance: Low
Flower: Showy, Fragrant
Attracts: Hummingbirds
Tolerate: Heavy Shade, Black Walnut

Culture

Easily grown in evenly moist, organically rich, well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Best in part shade (some morning sun or sun dappled conditions). Established plants have some tolerance for dry shade (particularly plants with thick leaves), but soils should never be allowed to dry out. Full size and quality form are best achieved with consistent moisture. Water is best applied directly to the soil beneath the leaves. Divide plants as needed in spring or autumn. Division is usually easiest in early spring before the leaves unfurl. Plant in locations protected from wind. Hostas are generally considered to be low-maintenance perennials.

Noteworthy Characteristics

Hosta is a genus of about 70 species of shade-loving, rhizomatous, clump-forming, herbaceous perennials which are native to open woodlands, woodland margins and glades in Japan, Korea, China and eastern Russia. Hostas are primarily grown for their ornamental foliage. Stalked, conspicuously-veined, often dense, basal leaves in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and textures rise up from a central rhizomatous crown to form a rounded to spreading mound of foliage. Bell or funnel-shaped flowers in terminal, mostly one-sided racemes bloom in late spring or summer.

Philodendron Hederaceum 'Brasil'

Philodendron hederaceum 'Brasil' is a wild and bold cultivar of the classic Heartleaf Philodendron. Its variegated leaves look almost painted, with strokes of yellow and lime green across the deep green foliage. As if that weren't tropical enough, the stems have pinkish orange hue. Tolerant of a wide range of light conditions, this plant is a prolific grower, producing long cascading vines that can easily reach the floor. Like its cousin, the standard green Heartleaf Philodendron, Philodendron 'Brasil' is extremely easy to grow - no green thumb required.

PLANT CARE

• Light: Low to bright, indirect light
• Water: Water when the top 1-2" of soil dries out
• Considerations: Trim leggy vines to promote a bushier growth habit - the tip cuttings can be easily propagated!
