Plant Care Tip that works in super lowland, humid microclimate
Marami tayong makukuhang care tips at rituals in making sure our plant babies survive the hot season.
But for me, with over 4years in cacti keeping, so far, here's what I have observed that really helps:
- Pots. CLAY, TERRACOTA pots. Why? Because it promotes air circulation due to its composition. When you water, it easily dries due to the coarseness of the pot. When it is humid, it also keeps the soil light and dry which helps prevent root rot.
- Water discipline. Paulit ulit nalang pinaguusapan to. Do not over water your plant and learn to read signs of over watering. Withhold watering if necessary to best observe your plants. You either poke the soil to check if it's dry, or, lift the pot if it's light. My practice is water every 8-10 days when it's hot season and every 12-15 days when it rains. When it rains, I make sure to collect rain water as it is more nutritious for the plants. I try to mimic rain for watering as they experience in the desert. Oo. Hindi sila talaga ipinanganak sa disyerto. But they have the same genes and making. Ayaw niyo sa ways ko? Eh di wag. Hindi ko naman kayo pinipilit. Pake ko.
- Ventilation. Yes besties. Ventilation. Hindi niyo kailangan ng aircon for this. Basic fans will do. Why? Ikaw nga naiinitan sila pa? Basta nag cicirculate na hangin bes. Saka wag mo itutok sa araw lalo na sa villain afternoon sun. Try mo ikaw tumutok sa araw. Mainit diba? Oh. Gets? Gets.
Yun lang muna for now. Bye. 🌻🌻🌻
