For Architect Fiel Margeau Espina - Reventar, the journey began with something quieter: a gentle nudge from her father, a legacy too deeply rooted to ignore, and the quiet decision to follow a path already walked by those she loved most.

CENTRAL PHILIPPINE SPECIALTY CENTER - Construction Progress

The following photos are the latest construction updates of the up-and-coming Central Philippine Specialty Center, formerly named Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital - Cortes Campus. EPEA's and the hospital team's design vision for the central healthcare facility for the heart of the Philippines will soon become a reality.

This complex is a state-of-the-art medical facility and envisioned to be the primary healthcare center in Central Philippines. A five (5) hectare lot in Cortes, Bohol was master-planned to have seven (7) facilities. Namely, they are (Building A) Critical Care Building, (Building B-D) Inpatient Building 1-2, (Building C) Administration Building, (Building E) Behavioral Sciences Center, (Building G) Utilities Backbone Facility, (Building H) Central Materials Recovery Facility. Currently, Building A, B and C are nearing their completion date.

Espina, Perez-Espina, and Associates, an architecture firm specializing in hospital design, along with a dedicated team of hospital engineers, medical planners and professionals, proposed a holistic and evidence-based approach for the design.

To duly reflect the lessons that were learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, the tenets of decentralization/compartmentalization, hospital concourse, source control, and surge capacity were applied to the design. These were done to adapt to the new normal.

Besides this, patient-experience, occupational safety, green, sustainable design, and wellness were also prioritized.

SAMAR ISLAND MEDICAL CENTER 🏨 - Masterplan and Design of the Main and Support Buildings

Espina, Perez-Espina and Associates, an architecture firm specializing in hospital design, was contracted to help design and implement the Samar Island's first tertiary hospital, located in Calbayog City.

Our goal is to provide a holistic and evidence-based approach to the design. Applying lessons learned during the pandemic, concepts such as decentralization/compartmentalization, source control, and surge capacity were applied to the design, adapting it to the new normal.

To enhance user experience and prioritize patient well-being, occupational safety, green design, and wellness concepts were put at a premium.
