Bahay Ylang draws its meaning from the ylang-ylang flower—known for its lightness, openness, and strong connection to the tropical environment. In a tropical house narrative, the name reflects a home that is calm, breathable, and naturally inviting, where spaces are designed to open, flow, and adapt to climate rather than resist it. Like the flower, the house emphasizes ventilation, filtered light, and a gentle transition between indoor and outdoor living. Bahay Ylang represents a tropical dwelling rooted in nature, comfort, and quiet elegance.
The house is designed as a modern tropical home defined by low horizontal volumes and deep roof overhangs that respond to the climate. At the center of the house is an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, organized as the heart of daily living and connection. Brise-soleil elements and carefully placed openings allow natural light and airflow while reducing heat gain. Natural stone and warm wood finishes ground the design in its tropical setting, emphasizing comfort, openness, and indoor–outdoor living.
