Meet My Doughter, my sourdough starter. She was born on June 20, 2026 after an unplanned & unsuccessful making of seitan. That makes her a Gemini with Virgo Moon.

Please give her your best wishes as she grows and blooms into an amazing sourdough starter. May she make beautiful breads one day✨☺️

Next, Pilipinas?

India just locked in one of the most ambitious vegan labeling rules in the world.

On May 25, 2026, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) notified the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2026 through the Gazette of India. Once approved, every packaged vegan product sold in the country will be required to carry a single standardized green VEGAN logo featuring a leaf symbol. The rule comes into force on July 1, 2027, giving food businesses just over a year to transition.

The amendment updates the 2022 Vegan Foods Regulations and was finalized after a stakeholder consultation that ran for 60 days following a December 2022 draft. According to the FSSAI notification, the logo's exact size, placement and color specifications are spelled out in detail, leaving no room for brands to design their own version or use the term "vegan" loosely.

For a market this size, the implications are significant. India has one of the fastest-growing plant-based sectors in Asia, but until now consumers have had no single visual marker to verify whether a product labeled vegan actually meets a defined standard. The new rule shifts that burden onto manufacturers and onto FSSAI's certification process.

It is also a quiet message to the industry. With the world's most populous country tightening its vegan labeling regime, soft claims and greenwashing on plant-based packaging are about to get harder to defend.
