An added joy in maintaining a home garden is getting visits from nature's pretty winged creatures. Butterflies. I just miss the yellow ones that I used to watch with my grandson Koikoi. The cute white ones are so elusive.

Calatheas are low-light plants with stunning foliage that easily dazzles an appreciative eye. The different patterns on the leaves of varying varieties are really eye-catching.

Calatheas are also called prayer plants because of their unique feature of partially clasping their leaves, as if in prayer, when evening comes. Not every variety though.

I have a good number of different varieties housed on a 3-level plant rack situated directly opposite the vertical garden mentioned in my previous post.

I have always been a plant lover long before the onset of the pandemic. Being free from stress-free days after my retirement in mid 2011, I found more time to spend outside our house, making transformations in different areas. No denying though that the pandemic heightened my love for plants. It awakened the "plantita" in me.

Collecting became a passion. As long as the price is not a pain to my purse, I buy whatever I fancy. I have never gone beyond my thousand-peso ceiling.

My collection has visibly grown through the years. Admittedly, many precious and expensive plants are still way beyond my capacity to buy. Nonetheless, I am still proud of what my home garden has become.

Thank you Lord for the gift of plants and, more specially, the gift of a green thumb.

For this maiden post, I would like to feature the part of our terrace which leads to my home garden. Philodendrons on the right and dieffenbachia on the left to welcome anyone who visits .
