Scheduled preventive maintenance is a must, and more economical in the long run. Often times operators/mechanics rely on repair when wear practise, which sometimes resulted into irreversable damage. Below is a sample of unrepairable damage. Inner wall of the cylender barrel was scraped due to a worn out piston seal, and thinned wear band.

Taking care of the Hopper:
The automatic greaser is a piece of equipment that saves time and money in repairs, it takes the guess work out of regular greasing. However, just like the pump itself, the auto greaser is a peace of equipment that can malfunction. In the event that the auto-greaser stops working, remember, to never take the autogreaser for granted. Always back-up by a few simple shots of manual grease gun every couple of hours of operation, to save the wearing of hopper parts untill the auto-greaser is fixed. Regular greasing will help push any concrete cream build up in the ports or sealing ring grooves.

When a hydraulic pump operates, it performs two functions. First, its mechanical function creates a vacuum at the pump inlet, which allows atmospheric preasure to force liquid from the reservoir into the inlet line of the pump. Second, its mechanical action delivers this liquid to the pump outlet, and forces it into the hydraulic system.

The hydraulic pump produces liquid movement or flow. It does not generate preasure. It produces the flow necessary for the development of preasure, which is a function of resistance to fluid flow in the system.

For example: The preasure of the fluid at the pump outlet is zero for a pump not connected to a system (load). Further a pump delivering fluid into a system, the preasure will rise only to the level necessary to overcomevthe resistance of the load.
