💡 FYI for new carnivorous plant hobbyist💡
What is the most common cause of death of a carnivorous plants?
- Environment shock
I can’t stress this enough! Without proper acclimation your plant can die in less than a week or maybe just within a day.
So what is acclimation?
Acclimatization or acclimatisation (also called acclimation or acclimatation) is the process in which an individual organism adjusts to a change in its environment (such as a change in altitude, temperature, humidity, photoperiod, or pH), allowing it to maintain performance across a range of environmental conditions.

When do we need to acclimate our plants?
- After plant shipment
- After plant repotting
How do we properly acclimate our plants?
- Upon arrival/repotting, place your plants in a shaded area in a span of 1-2weeks
- Wait for your plant to produce new healthy leaves
- “SLOWLY” introduce your plant to brighter area/direct sun
- “GRADUALLY” increase light duration
- If your plant looks healthier then that’s a sign that you’re doing the acclimation process properly.

Additional tip:
Higher humidity can help shorten the acclimation process
Other common cause of death?
- Buying before researching about your plant.
- Giving too much attention to your plant.
Note:
- Acclimation period may very per plant and this also applies even to your herbs, vegetables and your common house plants.
After shipping, your carnivorous plant will go through an important acclimation period as it adjusts to its new environment. Here's how you can help!
