Let's talk about stairs.

"Oro Plata Mata" is a Filipino and Spanish phrase that translates to "Gold, Silver, Death" and is a superstition in construction that guides how to count the steps of a staircase to ensure good fortune. To follow this belief, architects and builders count each step in sequence: Oro (gold, for good luck), Plata (silver, for neutral luck), and Mata (death, for bad luck). The goal is to have the final step land on either "Oro" or "Plata," avoiding "Mata" at all costs.

Meaning and application
Oro: The first step is "gold," symbolizing good fortune.
Plata: The second step is "silver," a neutral energy.
Mata: The third step is "death," associated with bad luck.
The pattern: The sequence repeats (Oro, Plata, Mata, Oro, Plata, Mata...) until the top of the stairs.
The goal: The staircase should be designed so that the final step is not "Mata". Ending on "Oro" or "Plata" is considered auspicious.
How it's used: To ensure the final step is not "Mata," builders may adjust the number of steps, add a landing, or slightly alter the layout of the stairs.
Beyond stairs: This superstition is sometimes also applied to the arrangement of chairs or desks to promote good fortune in business or an office setting.
