You might be wondering how the boy you helped get therapy during the pandemic is doing. Here he is now, practicing for his Grade 6 graduation.
Embracing the little quirks that make AUsomeGio who he is—proof that joy, resilience, and authenticity shine brightest in the smallest details.
Hehe, he seemed so elated kanina 🤭
Sabi ni Teacher, hindi naman daw siya ganyan sa school practice. Pero sa bigger venue, parang lilipad na yata siya sa saya 😬🫣 His angel’s wings were already flapping. 😇🪽 If you know, you know. In the story “My Baby Brother is an Angel”, he used to flap his arms when he was small. Fast forward to 2026, and he did it again.
Some things never change despite the time and interventions that have passed. Still, it’s truly an achievement for him to behave well from 7 AM to 12 PM. Not to mention, he was already at VTC by 6 AM!
We don’t expect autism to “go away” like it’s an illness. It’s a lifelong condition that can be lived with. Gio has learned to follow some social norms alongside regular kids, while those kids have also learned tolerance and compassion—respecting classmates with special needs who sit in with them in their regular school.
Thank you, ValSped and Malinta Elementary School. Thank you teachers, therapists and all those who supported AUsomeGio one way or another. We have come this far in our Autism Journey together.
To God be the glory for every milestone, every quirk embraced, and every step forward in Gio’s journey.
