Architects, stop taking the design process so seriously. Here’s why…
As architects, we often get caught up in making everything perfect. Every line, every detail, every proportion.
But here’s the truth: design is highly subjective, and that’s what makes it powerful.
It’s not about rigid rules, it’s much more about imagination.
As architects, we’re storytellers, much like film directors.
We take narratives from our imagination and translate them into spaces that people experience and interact with.
So why do we second-guess ourselves and treat every idea with such intensity, as if perfection is the only goal?
Think of it.
🔺 Creativity thrives when we loosen up, not when we obsess over precision
🔺 Some of the most groundbreaking designs come from playful experimentation
🔺 Risk-taking often leads to the most memorable, iconic spaces
🔺 Innovation emerges when we allow ourselves to think beyond the “rules”
Our profession should be as playful as it is meaningful. After all, architecture is about creating experiences—and experiences should be exciting.
So please, let’s stop taking ourselves so seriously, and start enjoying what we do.
