werplay - Rebrand

Redesigning the brand identity by creating a dynamic and playful design language to power their future.

The client:

werplay is a creative services agency with niche for game creation and development.

Brief:

werplay wanted to uplift their brand identity to strengthen their position in the international market, attract talent and show off their team culture. They wanted to create a brand that reflects playfulness — a core team value that they live by everyday.

Solution:

We started with the very basics by listening to the people who made werplay to help us define a direction for the new look and feel of the brand. After interviewing few folks, there was one thing that everyone was passionate about, the playfulness and freedom werplay offers that has helped them grow both as creators and team.

The new logo would be the epitome of playfulness, dynamic and bold.

Excited to be part of a fun panel discussion this weekend on Sunday at 10pm as a part of UXPakistan. Saba Talat along with 7 other designers will be doing "Vintage Portfolios" — we'll show you samples of our most embarrassing old work, showcasing the latest work we're proud of, and answering FAQs around design career planning and growth!

Catch us live on UXDP: UX Design in Pakistan

Here’s another UXDP Panelist, Saba Talat,a multidisciplinary designer working as a Global Creative Manager at KeepTruckin where she is designing for the future of KeepTruckin's brand and web-based experiences. She also does freelance projects under the name of Deztopia which is basically driven by her passion for becoming a digital nomad. She has worked on branding, storytelling, staging, typography, illustrations, editorials, interaction design and much more. Most importantly, she is trying to bridge gaps between architecture, interior, and other categories of design - to explore interesting stories and enhance experiences from branding to walls and from interfaces to facades.

This UXDP party and panel on the 19th of April 2020 at 10:00 pm is surely something to look forward to!

Located in Chak Shehzad's neighborhood; the house white walls, usage of natural materials, and shades of green makes the home look more spacious and open.

We were challenged with the original setting of the house which was wrapped with wallpapers and wooden panels installed from walls to ceilings covering almost all the light sources including windows. The house which is around 50 yrs old, wasn’t maintained in a very long time. The foundation of house, along with plumbing pipes and walls were all affected by heavy corrosion and mold. Additionally, walls were covered with glitter textured dark paint and floor had layers of carpets sitting over on another.

‘When we entered the house, we had to use a mobile torch to access the site. The place was really dark in the middle of the day’ - Team

Our three main goals were to;
1: Lighten the space by welcoming the natural light in the house
2: Fix the structure of the house, plumbing and electrical both, to get rid of dampness & corrosion
3: Use the existing structure in a way that the spaces are utilized efficiently by the people living in it
4: Meet the budget of the client by proposing cost-effective solutions

To do so, our first step was to get rid of all the wooden paneling and wallpapers to locate all the original windows and light points in the house. Incorporating the original windows in the design, along with some new ones really helped in bringing the natural light in the house.

By carefully understanding the needs of the client and usage of the spaces, our next step was to transform the spaces which are functional, warm, welcoming and something that takes advantage of the natural light.

The original house also had a really huge kitchen area, with adjoining living/dining space. Both these spaces weren’t utilized by the people living in it. Kitchen was only used to prepare daily food while living area wasn’t in a usable condition. The new layout had the kitchen and living area transformed into multi-functional open-plan space which accommodates kitchen, dining and living area. We selected the green accent color for the cabinetry to provide a feeling of warmth when combined with white terrazzo floors. The countertops in the kitchen were custom designed and built from terrazzo.

From the living area, one can enter the bedroom which has an attached bathroom. In the overhaul, we addressed the two pain points client was facing in this room, one is the compact pace due to extra cabinets, and second is the privacy concern due to shared wall with servant quarter. The room now showcases shades of green and grays along with the combination of natural wood materials that are used in different custom-built pieces of furniture. The old bed and chairs were modified to meet the client's budget and enhance the look of it.

Master bathroom walls which were covered from dampness, are now transformed to terrazzo control the mold. Shower area and exaggerated sinks are introduced to compliment the elongated rectangular shape of bathroom.

Study room, office, storage area, and staircase railing were also treated to enhance the look of the house. Natural red brick with different patterns was introduced in the hope to create an industrial raw feeling which doesn’t take you away from nature.

We worked with Ansel & Ivy for 10 months to build a seamless online retail experience for the people who are looking to shop for plants.

Location:
San Francisco, CA.

Project Type & Deliverables:
- Digital Strategy
- UI/UX Design
- Detailed Style Guide
- Iconography
- Email Designs

The Client:
Ansel & Ivy is an online retail shop to buy plants 🌱, which have been hand-picked by the team especially for you and are shipped with love ❤️ and care at your doorsteps.

The Objective:
To design the digital presence of Ansel & Ivy based on the strategy addressing the brand values and objectives i.e. to simplify the experience of shopping for plants and make it easy to be a plant parent.

The Solution:
To create a distinctive style for the brand which sets it apart and communicates the values offered to the plant world. 🌱

We kicked off the project by closely analyzing the competitors in the market and interviewing people to investigate the challenges they face when they are buying plants online or offline. In parallel, there were many brainstorming sessions with the Co-founders to understand the company goals and their vision.

With a better understanding and insights into these, all our efforts started revolving around ‘how to facilitate access to products, their information and care instructions’. How to make it easier for the plant parents (new or experienced) to feel confident to adopt something as delicate as a baby. We started off with wireframes to structure information and content. From here we moved into building the design language, imagery, icons, typography, voice, and tone. As a result, we designed user experience and developed a brand language that was easy to use, navigate, accessible, approachable, minimal, and aesthetically pleasing.
