House SQ is being constructed on the plot size of 50’ by 90’ in sector H, DHA phase 2, Islamabad.
Client's brief to have dialogue between solids and voids (connection with nature) and our design concept that is to extend the built to the unbuilt were the factors that gave uniqueness to the project.
Scooping out chunks from the mass to create open spaces on the site. Sunken garden, double height spaces, bridges to connect rooms are few of the design elements that are used to create experience for the user. Entrance lobby is a double height space which is approached by a bridge having voids on both sides. These voids allow vertical connectivity to the house which was also a requirement of the client. Courtyard in the center gives view to the master bed, lounge, dining and kitchen. Location of the courtyard in the center creates more room for natural light and makes the interior more airy. Lounge has access to green spaces on both the ends, one to the courtyard and other to the lawn. Outside the lounge, patio has been designed where the user can enjoy reading or a cup of tea with the loved ones.
Above the dining area is a void that creates vertical connection, above the void is the skylight that brings more natural light. Terraces with planters and Bar.B.Que area gives more space to the user to enjoy. Another patio between master bed and kid’s room has been designed. In this way the concept to have view to green spaces form every room has been achieved.
