Repeat business!

We love when our clients are asking us to come back and do more work! 💛🧡💖 For one of our regular clients, we have recently done this:

* Barn-style doors for their BBQ area, that matches those on the shed at the other end of the house.

* Built a tongue & groove seating area, with plenty of storage for kids toys & inflatables.

* Modified an existing door by making it more narrow, adding a window, carving out space for new hinges + building a new door frame.

* Made a bathroom vanity unit deeper (so that the beautiful top mounted sink would fit) by adding plywood to the back, sanding the edges to blend in with the existing piece, waterproof it and finally staining it in an exact matching shade!

* Hacked more IKEA units and created a super deep storage solution, perfect for those rollaway beds!

* And finally hung a sliding bathroom door (which was easy peasy after the sliding wall! 😁)

Our IKEA hack: "The Sliding Wall" !

Every once in a while, we get a project where we have to put our creative and critical thinking hats on! 🤠

Our client initially wanted us to make a large sliding DOOR, to be able to divide and close off an open space, but soon turned this idea into a very large, sliding WALL made of bookshelves with heavy glass doors!
(You know who you are! 😂😍)

° We reinforced the flimsy bookshelf backing with a thick plywood strip so that we we could screw threw it, thus hang it up on the rail. Additional battens was added to hold large sheet of thin ply, which was painted white to create a solid back.

° We added a lot of wheels to distribute the weight better, and to take pressure off of the wall rail.

° The uneven santa Catarina floor tiles was sanded down, by the builder, so that the unit could move smoothly back & forth.

° Due to a slope in the floor, we had to fit the wall rail one section at a time, while moving the unit slowly to make sure it stayed on track and didn't jump off!

° To keep the width needed, we had to cut and make one section of the bookcase narrower, stabilising it with metal bars which also acted to keep the pool cues in place.

It was at times both challenging and frustrating, but we got there in the end! 😁

Smart stylish storage!

One of our regular clients sent us a clip, asking if we could replicate the exterior storage unit shown?

Of course we can! A bit a studying of the structure and taking measurements of the space, we got started!

Due to the limited space available on their balcony, we had to cut and sand all pieces + assemble the unit off site. (Luckily we're just starting renovating our own house, and have lots of space to use!)

The result is a modern unit, hiding all not-so-pretty cleaning items such as brooms, mops, buckets and bottles, behind a sleek facade! Now all the client has to do is to go shopping for pretty plants and hanging pots! 🌼🌺🌸

From drab to fab!

This kitchen went from having matchy-matchy yellow/beige cupboards and cream walls to sophisticated grey doors and fresh white walls, for a more up to date look!

It wasn't without it's challenges though, as it was coated in a vinyl wrap that was severely flaking in places!

We painstakingly had to remove all of the wrapping and a lot of glue residue, then lightly sand, clean, prime and finally paint 3 coats of hard-wearing, wipeable, eggshell paint from Robbialac, in our clients choice of colour!

Hard work, but so worth it, don't you agree?

For the same client (as per previous post), we also undertook the transformation of her master bathroom!

Going from a somewhat tired, coastal blue & white to a grey, calm cocoon-like space. Brightly coloured towels bring contrast and life to the dark scheme and complement the wooden tones.

Again, we worked closely with our client to understand her wants and needs and brought in our trusted team of plumbers and electricians to make our common vision real!

We've been busy bees this autumn! 🐝🐝

Apart from our usual work of painting, woodworking & decoration, we now also offer bathroom renovations!

Along with an excellent team of plumbers & electricians, we've transformed this dated powder room to a fresh, modern space with a traditional twist!

We have designed the space, suggested colours & and materials, gone shopping for furniture, fittings & tiles with our client as well as doing the actual tiling!

This is right up Cecilia's alley as she's the "design & details" nerd 🤓 while Phil's a true ace 💎 at tile cutting!

We love painting, and especially when we're asked to add colour to a home!

This yellow seemed very vivid a first, and our client wasn't sure she'd selected the right hue...!
She soon got used to it, though, and now loves this bedroom as it's is warm, sunny & cheerful! 🍋☀️🌼

A second room was painted in a calming green, with all woodwork transformed from dark brown to fresh white, as a beautiful contrast! 🌱🌿🍏

What's behind the blue door..?

We helped the owner of this rental property get it ready for a photoshoot!

These gates had been neglected over the years, and the paint left to crumble under the Algarvian sun! 🌞

By painstakingly scraping off the many layers of flaking paint and applying generous coats of primer and paint, by hand (*)🤚🖌 these gates now make a welcoming and very colourful statement !!

(*) No swear words were uttered while doing this. At all. .....NOT!!! 😆😆😆

What's behind the door..? 🚪🚪🚪

The owners of this Quinta (a stunning rental property) were in need of lockable storage to house their guest's luggage during stays. 💼

In keeping with the traditional feel of the house, we built a barn-style, heavy-duty wooden door, with black hardware matching the wrought-iron details of the front door and windows!

We 💛 making bespoke solutions, to upcycle materials and to make spaces the most useful possible!

This bathroom was in need of more storage, and the empty alcove was the obvious choice.
Using a range of leftover materials (from the renovation of the villa) we managed to fit shelves, build the door frame and resize two existing doors to fit !!

Add a gorgeous mirror & old hardware and the bathroom is now fully functional, has loads of storage and oozes charm!

All white...is alright! 🤍

We continue to brighten up this lovely country cottage, this time all doors & doorframes have been sanded, primed & painted a fresh, brilliant & hard-wearing white!

And to maximize the light inside, the bathroom doors were revamped by our lovely Phil, who carefully inserted locally sourced antique glass, in keeping with the character of the house!

I think the result speaks for itself, don't you?! 👌👌
