The interiors of Casa Arieiro are shaped by a restrained material palette of exposed concrete, locally sourced basalt stone, and bamboo timber. Natural light enters through large openings and a continuous skylight, creating changing patterns of light and shadow throughout the day. Warm, tactile materials soften the solidity of the structure, while maintaining a seamless connection between the interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.

What we love about Casa Arieiro Project:

This is Casa Arieiro in Funchal, Madeira. Designed on a steep hillside, the house is split into two clear volumes that follow the natural slope of Madeira.

Exposed concrete, basalt stone and bamboo define the material palette, grounding the house in its context and keeping a clear connection to the terrain and the Atlantic.

Villa BM was built around our client’s lifestyle, their rhythm and routines. Two intersecting volumes wrapped in bamboo wood, opening the house towards Funchal and the Atlantic, with a double-height living space at the center that connects kitchen, dining and garden in one continuous flow, while the upper level stays more private with an office and master suite oriented to the view.

Meet the minds shaping NUUMstudio… This is Eric. He didn’t take the most conventional route into architecture and visualization, coming from the army, to industrial automation studies, to discovering 3D for the first time and deciding that was what he wanted to do.

Today, most of his work at NUUMstudio is focused on 3D modelling and architectural visualization, bringing projects to life through atmosphere, materiality and detail.

His influences range from brutalism, Scandinavian and Japanese design, all linked by simplicity, natural materials and strong spatial feeling. He’s especially interested in projects where architecture blends naturally with the landscape.

Beyond architecture, his background in visual arts, sculpture, illustration and digital art adds a unique versatility to the way he approaches every visualization.
