AFONSO ROCHA
Afonso Rocha (Porto, 1999) vive e trabalha em Londres, UK.
É licenciado em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto, em conjunto com a École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, e mestre em Fine Arts pela City & Guilds of London Art School, UK, onde estudou enquanto bolseiro da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
Afonso foi recentemente distinguido com a prestigiosa Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (Canadá), para além do ACS Studio Prize (UK), o Prémio de Pintura D. Fernando II (Portugal) e uma ArtsinSquare Grant (Canadá). Em 2023 foi selecionado para o Jackson’s Painting Prize, expondo na Bankside Gallery, em Londres. Em 2024 teve a sua primeira exposição individual institucional, No Jardim, no MU.SA - Museu das Artes de Sintra, em Lisboa.
As suas obras têm sido incluídas em diversas exposições internacionacionalmente e integram coleções públicas e privadas em Portugal, UK, Espanha, França, Brasil e Luxemburgo.

MEET THE ARTIST:
Afonso Rocha (Porto, 1999) lives and works in London, UK.
He received a BA (Hons) from the Porto Faculty of Fine Arts, with a semester-long stay at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and an MA from the City & Guild of London Art School, as a grantee of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Afonso has been awarded prizes including the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (Canada), the ACS Studio Prize (UK), the D. Fernando II Painting Award (Portugal) and an ArtsinSquare Grant (Canada). In 2023 he was shortlisted for the Jackson’s Painting Prize, exhibiting at the Bankside Gallery, London. He recently had his first institutional solo show No Jardim at the MU.SA - Sintra Museum of Arts, in Lisbon.
Afonso’s work has been included in multiple exhibitions and is held in public and private collections in Portugal, UK, Spain, France, Brazil and Luxembourg.
