Angles and Advantages (and a few add-ons).

As homes for the family go, this one had to be special.
As our parents moved to their new place, and needed to find their ground fast in the new surroundings, there was a whole bunch of rules and routines that needed to feel right once again.
This place is not “foreign”, as our family has been here for decades, but the house is, and so everything is still finding the right balance between hits and runs, and tests&trials.
When you design a home where your parents and sister will live in (alongside loving FERA who is the dog everyone would take home), you’re designing something for someone who knows you better than anyone. Even if the house needed to feel like a visual “departure”, it needed to make sense.
The patience limit is therefore very low for talks like “Marcel Breuer did this in Budapest”, or “Renzo Piano used this concrete and iron-cast in Genoa”.
They just couldn’t care less.
SÁ MIRANDA is a loving balance between solutions and surprises (and beautiful angles), and an answer to a simple briefing: make it user-friendly, playful and dynamic in form.
Warmth is not an adjective you find often in Architecture articles.
Le Corbusier? Cold as ice.
Lloyd-Wright? Spiky as a prickly-pear.
As our parents would say: “These people would be happier if they had someone who loved them even when they broke their best China”.
They would. They definitely would.
Not everything needs to be iconic.
It needs to be iconoclastic.

OMONNI.
From Seoul to Cascais.
What a journey (and we got really hungry during the trip).

For a country that was ravished in the 50s, and which no one believed would rise from the ashes, South Korea is truly a miracle of sorts.
Over the last decade the world fell in love with K-Pop, Squid Game, PDRN Cosmetics and Kimchi.
It also fell in love with G-Dragon and Jennie but they couldn’t make it to Cascais this time (private aviation is not what it was anymore).
Our Studio is known for creating a lot of award-winning restaurants, and as such we had to get on the bandwagon by creating something Korean which made a difference.
Heads up to OMONNI, now in the soft opening phase where we try everything, check everything, and make sure everyone eats everything (the easiest part).
This project is a creative departure for us, as it demanded heavy research, and also a lot of flair.
We couldn’t do anything typical or touristy, it had to be the real thing.
Korean Barbecue at its best. Design at its boldest.
Now that’s a good bean sauce mix.

FACULDADE DE LETRAS.
Preview. What some call a Première.
Lisbon Design Week 2026.

As the clock ticks, and as deadlines loom, any project reaching its final stage takes us to a place where cold sweat and anxiety rule.
Everything which we thought to build is now a fact, and everything we thought to achieve is now subject to evaluation.
Not ours, those who thought about it for years, and made it happen, but of the “public”.
As we preview the new Faculdade de Letras building during the kick-off of Lisbon Design Week, it’s important to look back, thanking a huge team who made it happen, and to look forward, taking the building into new territory, literally.
In a few months, hundreds of students and teachers will occupy, daily, chairs and tables, rooms and corridors, and will go up and down the stairs which for many months led nowhere.
Now they lead somewhere.
Thank you to an extraordinary Team who made this possible, and a special thank you to Architect Manuela Oliveira who saw something where there was nothing.
Architecture and Design somehow walk side by side, but rarely hold hands.
Maybe it’s time we shake them.

REFLECTIONS.
We do it with mirrors (and so did Agatha Christie, so we’re in great company).

As Designers we have had the pleasure of working with multiple briefings which required clever technical solutions.
Our clients and partners asked for a little bit of magic, and we delivered (and no bunny came out of a hat).
Our Studio has an extraordinary experience within the F&B and Hospitality markets, but somehow we always wanted to do more within Retail.
Shops, which strive to grab a client’s attention, and which play to a specific tune to perceive spending patterns, are now the true lifestyle destinations to understand what works, and what doesn’t.
Space, textures, lighting, so much is needed to make sure someone walks in and says hi.
For last year’s Lisbon Design Week we created something special, and shiny, for one of Europe’s oldest cosmetics brands, which required a little bit more than magic.
It required something playful, mirroring the idea that everyone is a reflection of someone and something else.
We all work with mirrors as image-shapers.
They reflect certain angles, perspectives and plans. They also reflect certain positions and possibilities.
As Agatha Christie would say “They do it with mirrors”.
As a Studio, who wouldn’t want to do a Poirot or Miss Marple number?
