Anthropocene Luminaire | Coming soon

A new object in development at the atelier.

The Anthropocene Luminaire is made from discarded fishermen’s nets, worn out through years of use at sea. Collected in small fishing ports along the Portuguese coast, each net is cleaned, sorted, and reshaped by hand.

Beyond their working life at sea, the nets find a new purpose — reshaped into a lighting object.

The first prototypes were developed within The Anthropocene Apartment at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale 2025.

Casa a Due Limoni · 2024

Tuscany, Italy

The kitchen was relocated to a higher-ceilinged space, allowing a clearer layout and new guest facilities.

A strong functional axis connects service spaces, a micro trattoria, the outdoor dining pavilion, and the swimming pool.

Six suites complete the private zones of the house.

Casa a Due Limoni · 2024

Tuscany, Italy

At the heart of the renovation is a 20-meter-long enfilade organizing the main social functions of the house: Living - Dining - Cooking.

This linear sequence is connected at both ends to outdoor spaces and fully opens toward a central patio, conceived as a walkable courtyard and an integral part of the casa.

The layout connects individual wings of the building through paved exterior surfaces, blurring the boundary between inside and outside while reinforcing clarity and orientation within the house.

Casa a Due Limoni · 2024

Tuscany, Italy

Reconstruction and transformation of a historic house in the hills of Tuscany.

Casa a Due Limoni reconnects architecture with the surrounding landscape through a carefully choreographed sequence of outdoor spaces.
A new dining pavilion links the original stone house to the redesigned swimming pool, extending daily life outdoors.

At both ends of the house, shared living spaces open directly onto terraces - creating a soft threshold between interior and exterior, and framing distant views across olive groves.

Everything is built in pale local stone and limewash, filtered through a contemporary lens.
Simple materials. Tactile textures. Shade, breeze, silence.

ARK MAGAZINE | 5 - 2025 New Visions

Text by Kristo Vesikansa

The Lisbon Architecture Triennale 2025 raises big questions about the weight of the technosphere and the global forces shaping our cities. As noted in a recent article, many of the works presented deal with vast, abstract scales - and a few translate these themes into practical, everyday architectural solutions.

That’s precisely where Atelier HOLCNEROVA is proud to contribute.

At The Anthropocene Apartment, the Atelier HOLCNEROVA transformed a former retail unit into a 1:1 - scale home built almost entirely from reused materials. The installation offers a tangible, lived-in demonstration of what a more sustainable daily life can look like - not in theory, but in practice.

BAUWELT MAGAZINE:

“At least one independent project does bring the unsettling global transformations back down to the architectural scale: THE ANTHROPOCENE APARTMENT, in which young architect Lenka Holcnerová and historian Pavla Simková show how an abandoned retail space can be revived as a place to live, assembled from found objects and reclaimed materials. A detour to Rua Amadeu de Sousa Cardoso 61 is well worth it.”
