I didn’t plan to design anything last week.
Just went away with my family for a few days.
No screens. No work. Just beach, too much sun… and trying not to think about anything.
But then… somewhere between a truly terrible coffee and a very competitive splash-jump contest, I started sketching.
No idea why, it just happened.
And what came out wasn’t anything suitable for a current client, but a memory… something mad like the Hemeroscopium House.
That insane concrete thing - all beams and no walls. I saw it years ago and it’s been stuck in my head since.
I wouldn’t call it an epiphany, but this time I thought: maybe it’s time.
Not to copy it, but to take the idea of the visible structure, the weight, the madness - and make something more livable out of it.
At least to me.
Still strange, with big structural pieces and “impossible” overhangs.
But with a warmer soul, materials that feel good to touch, spaces made for light, shade and life.
It’s not going to be with any client in mind, briefing or plot (at least not for now).
I just need to do it.
I’ll share a bit of the process as I go. Not as pitch, just to keep it real.
Some ideas stick around long enough that they ask to be built.
And who knows… if you’re reading this and thinking “actually… this might be me” - reach out.
You’ll need a plot, a budget, and a bit of madness.
I’ll bring the rest.
