The interior is organised as a continuous spatial sequence, where the different programmatic elements are linked through thickened thresholds and subtle transitions. The main foyer acts as a hinge, connecting the various volumes while maintaining a clear reading of the whole.

The auditorium is more contained and dense, forming a space of focus and immersion, where materiality and acoustics shape the experience. Elsewhere, circulation spaces extend beyond movement, becoming places of pause and everyday occupation.

An interior defined by relationships, continuity, and shifts in scale.

ONTOS

The proposal for the Multi-Purpose Center of Lajes do Pico is based on a very clear premise: to build in a territory where the landscape is not a backdrop, but an active material of architecture.

The town rests on a lava fajã: the ground, the walls, the mineral thickness, and the direct relationship with the sea define a specific grammar, shaped by mass, roughness, shadow, and resistance. It is from this condition that the project is developed.

The proposal continues the geological composition of Lajes do Pico, allowing a construction to emerge that appears to rest upon the basaltic platform. Its presence is not the result of an isolated gesture, but of the way it organizes the site, mediates scales, and structures the program within a coherent system of volumes, with solid and void paths in a play of thickness and absence.

The architecture thus assumes a dual commitment: on one hand, to respond with clarity and rigor to the high functional demands of the program; on the other, to construct a spatial identity rooted in the Azorean territory, without resorting to literal references or decorative imagery. The building is understood as a mineral extension of the site: compact, durable, silent, and deeply connected to the volcanic materiality that characterizes the island.

Nos Vemos

Set in Logroño’s Paseo del Espolón, Nos Vemos is a pavilion exploring the boundary between physical life and digital extension. A monumental mirror creates a "fictionalized reality," duplicating the city’s pulse and the historic General Espartero monument.

Behind the reflection lies a hidden dark room for analog voyeurism, mimicking our online behavior: we are simultaneously public performers and anonymous spectators. As night falls, internal lights reveal a constellation of observation points, exposing the structure’s logic. By "hacking" the city's digital image through hyper-photogenic design, the project forces us to confront our own vanity and the gaze of the algorithm.

Through fiction, reflection, and participation, the pavilion transforms the Paseo del Espolón into a space where identity is questioned, multiplied, and collectively performed.

The Torretta district’s new triple sports hall is a multifunctional urban facility within a large campus that blends education, culture, sports, research, and leisure in a public park. Designed for dual use: as a school gym by day and a 1,500-seat arena for events—it organizes all service spaces in a partially sunken level, while the raised ground floor contains the atrium and seating. Excavated soil is reused to shape nearby landscape mounds, reducing environmental impact.

Architecturally, the hall combines a warm timber structure with a precise aluminum exterior. Glazed areas reveal the wooden interior, giving the building a distinct, open identity. A recessed façade forms a portico that marks the main public entrance.

Inside, a bright atrium acts as both threshold and social hub, hosting everyday circulation as well as cultural and community activities. The gym sits on a slightly elevated podium that extends into outdoor stepped seating, functioning as an informal gathering place and public square.
