Purchased proposal 🍾 We’re thrilled that the Akranes Municipality has purchased our proposal for the town’s expansion into a new smart district. Emerging from a former industrial area, the new 95.000m2 neighborhood resides on 5 pillars: repurposing structures, smart mobility, circular economy, modularity and scalability.
The unique location of the site enables to create a new sustainable neighborhood that reconnects the urban life to nature while becoming a valuable anchor point for Akranes. The ambition is to create a district that will act as a laboratory for future urban development to showcase how sustainable housing development can be combined with circular resource thinking, and social diversity.

LCP | Our winning design challenges the existing planning for housing, taking into account the town’s population desire for a new centrality in this unique location. We propose a multifunctional hall, a public structure that can accommodate several functions as well as activate and support outdoor activities.
The building rises gently from the ground, minimizing its visual impact while shielding the new plaza from dominant winds and opening its footprint to maximize sun exposure. The green roof extends the local flora, and becomes a continuation of the pedestrian coastal promenade.

Win 🍾 we're honored with the 1st place in the Leidarhofdi competition, and looking forward to start working with the Hornafjörður Municipality on further planning stages for this new community center that intends to become an intergenerational center that binds all inhabitants together.

"Snorraborg is a beautiful building that fits in well the local spirit. Building and environment offer numerous and positive experiences. The proposal is very well prepared and shows a very good understanding and sensitivity of the subject and fits in particularly well with the environment."

_Intern - Have at least completed 2 years of architecture school- Be able to have your Internship for at least 3 months. Erasmus + scholars are a plus
