Kaleva Church, designed by Reima and Raili Pietilä and completed in 1966 in Tampere, is one of the defining works of Finnish modernism. Conceived as a sculptural composition of soaring concrete forms, the church reflects the Pietiläs’ highly individual and expressive architectural language.
The dramatic interior is defined by tall concrete walls and full-height windows that flood the space with natural light, creating a remarkable sense of verticality. Furnished with Finnish pine, the church balances monumentality with warmth and remains one of the most distinctive religious buildings of the post-war era.
