As you can see in this kitchen, warm white concealed LED lighting (approximately 3000K in colour temperature) was integrated beneath the upper cabinetry to create a soft, balanced glow across the workspace. Instead of relying solely on overhead lighting, this layered approach introduces both practicality and atmosphere while complementing the overall warm-toned interior palette.

Why did we design the walk-in closet room with a large arch door instead of a conventional swing door or even a simple sliding door?

The answer comes down to intentional artistic design. Creating an entrance that feels more expressive, more refined, and visually memorable within the overall condo interior.

Rather than treating the walk-in closet as just another enclosed room, the goal was to transform it into a feature space of its own. The arch door introduces a subtle Modern French-inspired aesthetic that immediately sets the dressing area apart while still allowing it to blend beautifully with the rest of the home.

Its curved silhouette softens the transition between the living area and the private quarters, allowing the spatial flow to feel more natural and connected. Instead of harsh lines or rigid separations, the arched form creates a gentler visual movement throughout the interior.

The black lattice detailing was also carefully considered as part of the overall design language. Its framing intentionally mirrors the existing window profiles within the unit, helping the feature feel cohesive rather than overly decorative or out of place.

Paired together with the fluted glass panels, warm concealed lighting, and wood finishes, the arch door becomes more than just an entrance, it becomes a statement piece that adds depth, character, and architectural identity to the entire space.

At first glance, many would assume this overhead feature is a slanted concrete or cement structure built directly into the ceiling or downwards from it. But interestingly, that’s not the case here.

What you’re seeing in this image is a cleverly designed ceiling treatment built around an existing structural support beam for installing the air-conditioner. Instead of leaving the beam exposed as a bulky overhead obstruction, the design team incorporated plasterboard detailing and ceiling carpentry to reshape how the structure is visually experienced within the space.

The angled form was intentionally created to soften the heaviness of the beam while allowing it to blend naturally into the surrounding ceiling profile. By introducing tapered lines and concealed lighting, what was once a purely functional structural element becomes part of the overall architectural language of the home.

This approach serves several purposes.

Functionally, it conceals the beam condition and integrates the air-conditioning routing neatly within the ceiling composition. Visually, it creates a smoother ceiling transition that feels lighter and more cohesive compared to a conventional boxed-up beam. The addition of cove lighting further enhances the effect, drawing attention to the clean geometry instead of the structural constraint itself.

This is one of those design solutions that often goes unnoticed at first, not because it lacks impact of any sorts, but because it blends so seamlessly into the interior that it simply feels like it belongs there from the start.

Layered illumination that shapes the space without overpowering it!

In this space, lighting isn’t treated as an afterthought, it’s part of the design language itself.

A layered lighting approach brings the entire composition together. The concealed cove lighting traces the curve of the ceiling, casting a soft, indirect glow that accentuates the form without creating harsh contrasts. It subtly lifts the ceiling plane, giving the area a lighter, more expansive feel.

Complementing this are the wall sconces on either side of the large fish tank, introducing a focused layer of ambient light. Their placement isn’t random but rather it’s deliberate. They frame the feature, adding in symmetry, and gently highlighting the texture of the backdrop that allows the materiality to come through.
All elements are tuned to a warm colour temperature (around 3000K), creating a balanced atmosphere that feels inviting without being overly dim. The result is a space that transitions comfortably from day to night, maintaining both clarity and warmth.

Rather than relying on brightness alone, this setup demonstrates how well-planned lighting design can guide the eye, enhance architectural features, and shape the overall mood of a space.

Before renovation begins, this secondary room was simple and functional but visually speaking, it was largely underutilized. Despite fully utilizing the vertical space, the standalone wardrobe felt disconnected from the rest of the room, leaving gaps that weren’t optimized and a layout that lacked visual cohesion. It was a room with potential, though already functional, we can go further and enhance the look and design of the room.

After renovation, the difference is immediate.

Aligning with the rest of the unit’s design and color pallet, alongside the custom-built wardrobe in place of the old one, the now guest room / study room is now much more structured and more in-line worth the rest of the renovated condo. The wardrobe is no longer just an addition it instead becomes part of the renovated architecture itself while keeping the room clean and uncluttered. Warm wood tones and refined detailing bring depth and character, transforming the room into something that feels intentional and complete.
