The owners had agreed that it would be a good idea to have the bed in the bedroom orientated to face towards the window so as to maximise the views of the greenery outside, especially when the automated curtains draw open in the morning. However, this would result in having the headboard of the bed against the bathroom wall, which is not ideal from a fengshui perspective. To mitigate this, we proposed having a headboard with storage to buffer the sounds, moisture and negative energy from the bathroom.
This headboard therefore became a multi-functional piece of carpentry. Other than integrating the bedside lights and switches in it, it also housed side cabinets for extra storage, deep cabinets for storage of extra pillows and bedlinen, and also acted as a side table. Despite the vertical depth, we designed for the carpentry to be easily accessible, while keeping the lines minimal for a clean look.
