“Carpenters Street, Singapore,

Calling for a brand new “corporate HQ image and environment” the redevelopment of an in-fill typical shop house office @ Carpenter Street features a tropical ‘IN/OUT’ vertical hanging garden concept.
Retaining the double volume grand entrance, the design integrates the building structural elements with “vertical living walls” built-in with services to provide enjoyment of the “vertical hanging garden” by both the passers-by and occupants alike. With the full height frameless glass walls bright and “airy” feel with distant views across makes the internal working spaces an attraction to be in.
Maintenance access to all the greeneries and glass facades have also been discreetly integrated expressing the functional-aesthetics appeal of the new redevelopment.
You can find the original building pictured in the last photo.

“Yong Siew Toh Music Conservatory”

Primarily a “music school” located within and part of the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus was first established in 2003 under Singapore Conservatory of Music.
To enhance the experience of natural light and provide expansive views, an inclined glazed façade has been designed as a focal point of the structure.
The façade features a semi-unitized glazing system specially developed by our principal Kelvin Kan while he was with ARUP Singapore.
The glass facade allows for seamless integration of glass panels while maximizing inside out and outside in views

“SAMSUNG Hub”

In the SAMSUNG Hub project, technical challenges in the facade installation were resolved by implementing a flexible facade system, a solution Kelvin contributed to during his time with ARUP’s Facade Engineering team. This approach allowed the structure to adapt while maintaining design integrity. Adaptive standard fixing details were also applied, ensuring seamless integration and long-term durability.

Circulation flow for visitors were seamlessly planned with visual “landmarks” within and easily recognizable to orientate users
The museum was linked with India Nation War Memorial so that linear and curved blocks were designed for continuous flow.

“CHIJMES”

One of the top F&B, entertainment and lifestyle night time destination located in the heart of Singapore Civil and Cultural District, CHIJMEs was a home to a convent girls school is housed in some refined colonial low rise buildings around a courtyard with a chapel that dated 1904.
At the heart of the development is a sunken courtyard flanked by Gothic arch covered ways provided a beautiful setting for dining.
To increase dining area, covering up the courtyard with glass would have allowed the visual connection to the chapel. A performance glass deck was conceptualized by the Architects

Our principal Kelvin Kan was selected to develop the details for a robust water-filled glass deck which can be quickly drained off for music, fashion performances including display of F1 cars during the Singapore GP will be held.

"Meyer International Building Design Competition"

A development for start-up units with facilities, the approach was to adopt a "kit of parts" for modular construction techniques with pre-fabricated components.
Based on a standard module which can "grow" in lettable size these units are interlinked linearly with octagonal intermittent services towers to facilitate any required change in direction.
Cantilever structural steel masts provided the suspended "umbrella" concept of supporting the roofs...

The drawings were all manually drawn (befoe AutoCAD tools etc) with the level of details drawn to precision.
