Singapore Archifest Exhibition 2025 – “Archi Art”
(Venue: 341 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore)

Designers often wear many hats throughout the creative process—and sometimes, we don’t think strictly like architects. This year’s Archifest theme embraces exactly that: the many ways design thinking transcends professional boundaries.

I’m truly honoured to be invited to participate in this year’s Archifest exhibition through my artworks. A heartfelt thank you to the organising team, Singapore Institute of Architects, ArchiFest, and RT+Q Architects for their dedication, time, and effort in bringing this inspiring event to life.

Four of my artworks were selected to be part of this exhibition, each representing a theme close to my heart:

🕊 Hope – Persevering through challenges with strength and quiet resilience.
🏛 Adapt – Balancing the needs of users with heritage in the face of tourism and modernisation.
🚀 Progress – Celebrating continuous growth in building our nation, society, and economy.
🏙 Past – Honouring our history by capturing local street scenes and the spirit of everyday life.

Grateful to be part of a platform that allows creative voices to reflect on our built environment and its evolving stories.

In this week’s episode, we explore a multi-storey family home designed to balance modernity with warmth. The owners spent two years on its architectural design and construction, resulting in a calm and cohesive living space ideal for family life and entertaining.

Thank you Stacked Homes for approaching and making a beautiful video of the house tour for one of my projects. E+J Terrace house is an Addition and Alteration project that involves major transformations to the external form and interior, while retaining the existing structure. The design aims to maximise usable space and transform the house’s previously dark, cluttered, and disorganised interior into a bright, airy, and spacious environment.

E+J House l A&A to existing Terrace House

Creams, browns and blue. The attic took in all the action from the sun as shadows are cast into the interior. Owner’s love of blues are added as accents to the overall neutral palette, possibly resonating with the love of blue skies.

E+J House l A&A to existing Terrace House

The flying canopy and wide steps welcome guests with a sense of openness of space. Visual transparency with folding glass panels allows the entry foyer to become an extension of the living room. Except for the guest room, the rest of the ground floor is a single continuous space without obstruction for maximum ventilation and natural lighting. The layout is customised to allow convenience for daily operation and to host larger gathering without feeling spacial constraints in this 6m width terrace dwelling unit. Colour palette is kept minimal with accent of black for dry kitchen and island feature.

Follow-up from previous post -
Small project but a 2-3 month intense one to come up with the design and execute it; to transform an existing empty “meeting” room and under-utilized outdoor patio to become a cozy entertainment space with customized home bar counter. Just in time for the owner’s home party.

The bar counter is designed to be curved to help with the circulation. It subtly divides the 2 zones, lounge seating and games section. Being a centre bar feature, it also unites the space as a focal point.

Glad to see how the spaces become alive with social activities.

Happy Labour Day! 1st May - a public holiday for us Singaporeans to take a break. Also a good time to throwback a minor past project done in 2022.

This is an ad hoc and fast turnover project to transform empty corridors and empty “meeting room” within an existing bungalow into cosy lounges, seating spaces and in-house bar lounge. The unused basement area is now a welcoming entertainment space for the residents to throw parties often.

Unboxing a mega truckload worth of furniture in a day was quite an experience. These photos were taken right on the day before the party set-up.
