This is what I do daily.

I am like an octopus 🐙 indeed — handling order taking, food preparation, payment verification, customer service, inventory management and operational issues all at the same time.

Behind every meal served is a lot of coordination happening in the background. While customers may only see the final product, there are many moving parts that need attention every single day.

My goal has always been to serve customers better, improve efficiency and create a smoother experience for everyone. Every improvement takes time, effort and investment… Will it bring more sales? I honestly dunno 🤷‍♀️

At this stage, I choose to focus my energy on what I can control, what adds value, and what allows me to serve customers more effectively.

Not every problem needs an immediate reaction. Sometimes the best approach is to keep improving, stay positive and focus on what works. 😊

With rising costs happening everywhere around the world, many F&B businesses are facing increasing pressure from higher ingredient prices, packaging costs, utilities, manpower, transport and supplier price adjustments.

As a small F&B vendor, we are also affected by these changes. Recently, many suppliers have started issuing price increase notices, and despite trying our best to absorb the costs for more than 1 year+, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain the same pricing.

This is not only happening in Singapore — it is part of the global economic situation affecting businesses worldwide. Hawkers and small food businesses have always tried their best to keep food affordable for everyone, often sacrificing profits just to maintain prices for customers. But honestly, it has been very challenging.

Over the past year, I’ve also seen many businesses quietly closing down. Sometimes people say only the strong ones will survive during difficult times like these. Hearing and seeing so many closures around me honestly feels disheartening. But even so, I still want to continue trying my best to maintain, push forward and keep going.

Every price adjustment is never an easy decision. We delayed it as long as we could while still trying to maintain food quality and service standards for everyone who supports us.

To all customers who continue supporting small local F&B businesses and hawkers — thank you sincerely. Your support truly means a lot to us and helps keep small businesses like ours going. 🙏

For me, it would be soft pinks, cosy vibes, cute little details, and a space that feels warm, happy, and welcoming ☁️🧋🧇💕

A place where people can slow down for a while, enjoy simple comfort food, and leave with a smile.

The rest… I’ll leave to your imagination ✨

As a fellow hawker, watching the Circuit Road saga unfold honestly makes me feel quite sad.

Many people only see the drama online, but they don’t see how tiring hawker life really is behind the scenes. Long hours, physical exhaustion, stress, heat, manpower issues and public pressure every single day.

Personally, I feel workplace boundaries are important too. Sometimes talking too much about personal matters in a hawker environment can create misunderstandings and unnecessary gossip.

At the same time, I also feel we shouldn’t permanently stamp someone based on their past. People can change, and anyone willing to lower their ego, work hard and earn an honest living deserves some respect.

Being a hawker is already not easy. Instead of tearing each other down, I hope fellow hawkers can support one another more.

At the end of the day, we are all just trying to make a living. 🙏

作为一名同行小贩，看着 Circuit Road 最近的风波，其实心里蛮感慨的。

很多人只看到网络上的争议，却没真正了解小贩生活背后的辛苦。每天长时间工作、高温环境、体力消耗、人手问题，还有来自顾客与外界的压力，真的不容易。

我个人也觉得，工作场合里保持适当的界限其实很重要。有时候过多谈论私人事情，在小贩环境里容易引起误会和闲言闲语。

但与此同时，我也觉得，不应该因为一个人的过去，就永远给他贴上标签。人是会改变的。愿意放下身段、靠自己双手认真工作、踏实赚钱的人，其实都值得被尊重。

做小贩已经很辛苦了。与其互相攻击，不如彼此多一点体谅和支持。

说到底，大家都只是为了生活而努力。🙏

This post about Zhao Lusi running a night market stall. No cameras, no stage lights. Just her hands busy cooking, serving customers, earning honestly.

It hit me harder than I expected.

Because life doesn’t always let us stay where we once were. One day you’re at the top, the next you’re figuring things out again. And in those moments, pride can be the hardest thing to put down.

She once said that if she couldn’t continue being an actress, she was willing to run a stall to make a living. Many people say things like that — few truly mean it. Fewer still actually do it.

This is what 能屈能伸 really is.
Not weakness. Not failure.
But the courage to bend when life demands it, without letting your spirit break.

There is no shame in honest work.
There is no loss of dignity in starting over.
What matters is the heart that refuses to give up on life.

We don’t always get to choose our circumstances.
But we can choose how we face them.

May we all learn to stand tall when we can, and bow gently when we must — trusting that as long as we keep going, we will rise again.
