Should interior design be regulated in Singapore?

It sounds like an obvious way to better protect homeowners. But regulation could also mean higher design fees, fewer projects per designer and ultimately, higher renovation costs.

So perhaps the bigger question isn't whether we should regulate interior designers, but what exactly should we regulate?

Are “Taobao Designers” replacing interior designers?

Homeowners today are more involved than ever, sourcing their own lights, furniture and accessories, comparing prices and making more decisions along the way.

But buying beautiful things doesn't make someone an interior designer.

Because good interior design isn't about where you shop. It's about spatial planning, lighting, ergonomics, technical coordination and knowing how everything comes together.
