Completed my 1st pack of 6 blocks for my Epic x-stitch quilt.

It is my go-to for sewing 'snack' when I get the chance to sit with myself for a moment. The pack instructions call for 24 skeins of embroidery threads, but I managed to use about 18 skeins for these 6 blocks.

Swipe to see the back of the stitching.

For the 1st 2 blocks, I tried sewing paths that would minimise threads crossing over blank spots from the back of the project. For the 2nd set, I tried to move diagonally to see if I could save threads AND avoid even more jumps between stitches. Finally for the 3rd set, I settled on the conventional row-by-row technique because I prefer a more 'stable' back. Even though the dark blue threads may show through the front of the project, I'd like to believe it is part of the handmade charm.

6 blocks down. 36 more to go. And I just can't get enough of stitching on these blocks! 🥰

3rd kit in the 4 seasons houses x-stitch kits by Lizzie Kate done! And I'm looking forward to kitting up the last one to start soon. There are many other projects that I'd like to jump in soon, but I think it will be nice to round up these 4 houses soon.

Made 2 sets of Sashiko coasters for the ultimate hostess with the mostest!

Stitched up these coasters from 2 オリムパス製絲[公式]手芸素材のメーカー sashiko kits that I bought many many years ago. Backed them all with the same Seigaiha Japanese print that I quilted with a layer of cotton batting.

Very thankful for our friend and her family for hosting our group of old pals at our regular meet-ups with such care and generosity. 🥰

Available at 2Quilters too (that's how I got inspired to finally sew them up!)

All 6 needles loaded up and ready to sew! 💪

Just a few more smallish sections to go before I finish block no. 4 and I'm already looking forward to sitting down with this x-stitch embroidery project tomorrow.

The needle minder/holder for this project is a old fridge magnet from 2020. That was a weird time to be living in then. Stitching helped. These days, I feel like I need the healing touch of my sewing hobby even more. Sigh.

More late-night sewing... started a new X'mas panel stitching project over the weekend and added more stitches to my Lizzie Kate 'Autumn' x-stitch kit. Feeling very happy to be able to play with more thread colours with these projects and put all the needles and other notions to use too.

This is my 7th year running, dressing Missy K in a handmade cheongsam for CNY, using Qi Pao pattern for girls.

The missy requested for a floral print in pastel blue and she picked the Wildflower design from Under the Canopy collection by from available at

She loves the print and the 100% organic high density cotton fabric is so comfortable to wear.

I think the girl made a fantastic fabric pick this year. 😍

For this Chinese New Year, I choose to display the quilt that is the origin story of my sewing journey.

When I was pregnant with my 1st born in 2007, my nesting instinct kicked in so strong to make something for him with my own hands. I signed up for a Beginner patchwork class with Brigitte at but my son interrupted my lessons when he arrived some 7 weeks earlier than expected. We poured our lives solely into his care for the next few months.

Brigitte kindly welcomed me back to her shop to resume my lessons about a year later and before I finished handquilting the beginner quilt, I was signing up for more classes and making more quilts.

This quilt sat in my wip pile for so many years and I lost interest in it. Last year, I decided to complete the handquilting and finish it in my quest to whittle down my wip stash. I'm so glad that I did. This project had taught me so much and made me fall in love with patchwork and quilt making. Although some of the fabrics have developed that patina of age, I quilted it with pride and love. And an interesting part is that this quilt shows the difference in my hand quilting techniques and preferences through the years.

Our idea of a Valentine Day well spent? A good hearty dinner at our favourite prata joint and then head home to put our feet up to chill and enjoy some good ol' eighties music. And no more spring cleaning this evening!

And of course I made time to get some stitching done! I love these 2 hand stitching projects that I'm currently working on. I do have a 'few' other WIPs in the bag but for now, these 2 are the ones I have handy to help wind down at the end of the day. And I do switch between them when I rehoop or come to end of the threads.

Whipped up a tablet sleeve with some leftover quilted fabric (love Newsprint wide-back fabric from ) and a decor-weight Sanrio fabric for the lining. Think 'business on the outside, party on the inside'.

The Girl has been looking forward to the school's distribution of their personal learning device since last year. No joke. One of her criteria in making her school selection was the PLD type the schools use 😅

For the sleeve, her requests for a pocket to store the cables and an easy access opening are simple enough for me to make this quickly.

I'm always very happy to use fabrics and notions in my stash. And even happier to make useful stuff for the people I love ❤️
