Cascade Garden House completed in 2025, Singapore.

The house lies in an upscale bungalow area and has two stories plus a basement. The main spaces of the house were designed to face the garden, with a large verandah jutting into it so that the plants and trees could be fully appreciated. Roof gardens were provided throughout the house to enhance the sense of greenery and aid cooling. Overhanging plants also softened the edges of the sky gardens.

This house completed in 2025 is really a celebration of garden and indoor / outdoor interaction. The owner, a keen gardener, selected all the plants to encourage biodiversity, and create a feeling of lush tropical living.

In this large private home, we created a human-scale design by dividing the landscape into two levels. Gardens on the second floor offer beautiful views from the bedrooms, while courtyards on the first floor bring light, greenery, and ventilation. The swimming pool sits at the center of the entertainment spaces and is visible from the basement theater through an underwater window.

Contemporary tropical courtyard house was located on a square flat site in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Designed for a young couple, the house aimed to create dynamic spaces that encourage play and interaction. The house embraces Singapore’s tropical climate by creating open, well ventilated spaces in an interlocking composition of building, garden, pool, pond and roof gardens that integrates as much as nature as possible in the in the densely urban environment of Singapore.
