Paraboea amplifolia

A genseriad species which is native to the shady, wet limestone of southern Thailand. Not only can the species grow to gigantic proportion (almost 1m across), this plant is also very bizarrre, in having this web-like arachnoid indumentum covering the entire plant including the inflorescence. A true oddity !

Codonoboea tiumanica

This miniature gesneriad has got very soft velvety leaves with striking patterning on the leaves. The plant itself is barely 3 inches tall and it’s almost always in bloom with its purple flower once the plant reaches maturity. This plant has been without an id for more than a decade in my collection and it was not until recently that manage to identify it as Codonoboea tiumanica, a species which is found on Tioman island from Peninsular Malaysia.

Philodendron pierrelianum
🌱

A small hemiepiphytic vine that hails from Peru. This miniature species was first collected by French botanist Serge barrier in 1979 & 1980, and it was described at the same time as Philodendron bicolor. It belongs to the Pteromischum section, where it is further characterised by its scandent habit. The species exhibits short internodes, with nearly full winged petioles and erect, glosssy leaves. The species was named in honor of Romaric Pierrel, the former director of the Nancy Botanical gardens, and a figure who took great interest in aroid collecting. During his tenure, he made Nancy botanical gardens have one of the finest aroid collection in Europe. Definitely a good candidate for terrarium !

Cyrtosperma macrotum.
Native to the swamp forest of papua, they are often heavily armed with very spiky petioles.
This species is not often seen compared to the showier johnstonii but attractive nonetheless with the prominent posterior lobes and elegant blooms.

Begonia bogneri - One of the most peculiar species of the genus. This species which comes from the rainforest of Madagascar doesn’t love high temperatures. Temperatures above 25 degrees and this miniature will start to sulk.

Begonia bogneri 產於馬達加斯加雨林,其細細長長的條狀葉型有如草一般的樣子。種植偏愛低溫的環境,溫度最好不要超過攝氏25度,否則生長會變得緩慢, 且其型態相對也會長較差。
