This is a case study why Blooms requests Credit Card payment for higher value lumpsum Orders.

We experienced very unique ways "customers" game the system, using all tactics to not pay for the services rendered.

Blooms understands this group of "customers" are the minority, but as a bootstraping, self-funded tech-startup, we need to minimise such incidents.

As such we have to seek customers' understanding that sone orders, payment mode has to be credit card.

We will use real case studies to educate our crews and technicians, also to warn other service providers on the potential pitfalls.

From time to time, we will list more real cases for learning and sharing here.

It's another milestone worth recording.

7 Jan 2026, we noticed another handyman app following our pricing, our hourly charge concept.

Maybe it's coincidence, but if it isn't, Blooms must be leading in the right direction. When more apps use this time-charge format, the more clarity it is for customers in the home-fix industry.

We welcome more will follow suit, to use time-base fees for handyman works.

Blooms has reduced our price from S$60/hr/crew to S$50/hr/crew as of today. Let's verify if the rest will follow.

Blooms is the first app in Singapore & Malaysia, with hourly based charges for home-fix, handyman services and technical works. We started this concept in 2020.
