On 20 September, 2013, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, with the Chairman of the LEGO Foundation, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, and Foundation CEO, Dr. Randa Grob-Zakhary by his side, added the last LEGO element to a large scale LEGO model, made after the official UN Headquarters LEGO set. Now in shops all over the world, it wasn’t that long ago since the idea and the design of the set existed only on our drawing boards.

When designing the famous Tokyo hotel (opened in 1923, demolished in 1968, the iconic entrance and lobby wing was dismantled and rebuilt at the Meiji Mura Museum in Nagoya), the architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s challenge was two-fold; while making the hotel building "modern" in the best sense, he meant to leave it a sympathetic consort to Japanese buildings.
As a LEGO architect, I therefore set myself a triple challenge: to faithfully capture Frank Lloyd Wright’s genius, to respect and accent the Japanese nature of the building and to create an intriguing model.

Design of this apartment is based on the opposition of dark walnut floor and white monolith pieces of furniture. The furniture is designed to blur the conventional shapes of typical parts of a residence - e.g. typical appearance of the kitchen or cupboards. The inclined lines add to dynamics of space as well as they transform the furniture almost into a sculpture. In this sense the kitchen works as an interesting background for the living room and dining romm in the foreground.

The project aim was to create a very heterogeneous residential neighborhood, and yet not to lose coherency. We designed the building prototype with fixed inwardness and unified system of roofs and window openings. Prototype served as a background model for further designs of terraces, which established successful relations between buildings and contributed to expressiveness and liveliness of the neighborhood.

Design of the stand is a result of a thoughtful choreographic walk, that leads the visitor's way through an ever changing exhibition space of a model home, covered with overhanging seiling slabs on two different heights. The composition of modular walls and slabs designed specifically for this circular pavillion is based on horizontal and vertical basic lines, while the main layout consists of a series of interconnected opened living spaces which could easily become an actual home in an actual environment.

Exhibition stand, that won the first Prize for excellence in designing fair space on International Ljubljana fair in 2009, was made for a consortium of 18 individual firms that manufacture and sell furniture as well as building equipment. The stand unites the stylistically different articles and exhibits into a coherent whole that is far more recognizable and therefore more marketable than a plethora of smaller individual stands. The innovative idea was a huge success and was repeated in different forms on several other fairs.

A vacation home as a family winter retreat. Designed simple but playful enough so that each member of the family feels pleasant and comfortable within its walls. The minimalist cold, rigorous white surfaces and sharp edges are balanced with the warmth of walnut flooring, backgrounds and screens. All the furniture is designed for the rooms to appear spacious. E.g. the small children´s room has a wooden perforated screen seperating two large beds and the wardrobe on the opposite side of the room is designed half closed and half open.

This small apartment doesn´t have enough room to function normally and still appear spacious. It has to have everything in one room, a kitchen, living room and a large bedroom. They are all there, just not visible at the same time. The design is based on movable walls and parts of furniture, which can be folded and pulled out or removed from sight. Depending on part of the day, the apartment configuration along with the lighting can be transformed into three completely different environments.
