The Kadzeni Collection is a coming together of our paper bead techniques and swazi traditional attire. The humble paper bead has been elevated into statement necklaces inspired by the Indlamu skirt and our coil technique took on a new life inspired by traditional African cowrie head wear.
It takes a long time to coil those earrings! Slow fashion isn’t about speed, it’s about the hands that turn paper into wearable art.

Our own 8 principles of sustainable design 🌞
This is what we keep coming back to, when the world feels like it’s changing at a rapid speed we continue to slowly and mindfully create sustainable design with a social impact. In some ways not much has changed! In other ways so much has. And these principles keep us grounded and remind us why we do what we do. It may be hard but it’s totally worth it.

The Ndlamu necklaces take inspiration from traditional swazi attire. Our paper beads are sewn onto fabric with gold details and dangling coils. To be worn when dancing ✨
Traditionally the Indlamu is a beautiful short beaded skirt of young swazi maidens worn during the Umhlanga Reed Dance.
Swipe to see archival images of Princess Hlekamanzi in the 1920s. A culture still thriving within the kingdom.
Clothing made by with hand dyed fabric from Ghana.
We have made a few for the upcoming festival.

The Emabele Collection ~ our interpretation of the spike-covered African pot, a ritual vessel used for protection, healing, and honouring ancestors. Traditionally these objects were sacred and ceremonial. Resembling thorns or needles, (or ni***es as we like to say in our studio) the spikes were designed to deter handling and protect the spiritual and powerful medicine they contain.
Our pieces are meant to be handled but they also contain a powerful medicine. That of the handmade, of our ancestors.

Emaswidi ~ the sweets collection
We wanted to make something different, something that spoke to our use of material in a new way. And this collection was born. Larger, tactile, and almost child like, these pieces are made from our signature pulp. And always with a touch of gold 🌞
We would love to hear your thoughts.
