🇰🇷 “Back from a trip… but in trouble?” – What You Should Know About Cannabis & South Korea

Cannabis laws around the world are changing fast. But South Korea still says a big NO to it — no matter where you are!

⚠️ Even if you use cannabis in a country where it’s legal (like Canada or Thailand), South Korea might still take action if you’re a Korean citizen.

🔍 Why so serious?
• South Korean law follows its people, even when they’re abroad.
• Some K-pop stars and regular travelers have faced investigations for using or even mentioning cannabis overseas.
• There doesn’t have to be evidence in Korea — just using cannabis abroad can get you into trouble.

👮‍♂️ What’s not allowed in Korea?
• ❌ No smoking, carrying, growing, or buying anything with THC.
• 📦 Packages from legal cannabis countries are closely checked.
• 📱 Police may check your phone or social media if they suspect anything.

✈️ Koreans traveling abroad — take note!
Even if you use cannabis legally in another country, you could be investigated when you return to Korea.
So yes — your trip could follow you home in ways you didn’t expect.

Know the laws. Travel smart. Stay chill. 😌🌿

🇹🇭 Thailand Steps Onto the Global Medical Cannabis Stage

On April 30, 2025, two Thai medical cannabis entrepreneurs — Mr. Wisarat Potprasart and Dr. Nattapat Kulkaranlerd — represented Thailand at the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) 2025 in Berlin, Germany.

Their goal: to exchange knowledge on cannabis technologies and present Thailand’s potential as a key player in the global medical cannabis market.

“We believe Thailand has the potential to lead the medical cannabis industry in Asia and we are ready to meet global standards,” said Dr. Nattapat.

The ICBC conference brings together investors, scientists, and cannabis industry leaders from over 80 countries. Thailand’s presence at this major global stage marks a significant step forward for its medical cannabis industry.

🌿 Indica vs Sativa: What’s the Difference?

Not all cannabis hits the same — and knowing the difference can help you enjoy the right kind of high, at the right time.
Let’s break down the two major types of cannabis: Indica and Sativa.

🍃 Indica: “In-da-couch”

That nickname says it all — Indica tends to relax your body, calm your mind, and sometimes glue you to the couch.

Effects:
• Deep relaxation, stress relief
• Helps with pain, insomnia, and anxiety
• Best for evening or nighttime use
• Great for winding down or getting ready for sleep

🔥 Sativa: “Fire up your mind”

Sativa is your go-to for energy, creativity, and daytime adventures. It’s uplifting and mentally stimulating.

Effects:
• Boosts focus and creativity
• Enhances mood and sociability
• Best for daytime use
• Great for brainstorming, art, or being active

Pro tip: Start low, go slow — especially if you’re new.

🇺🇸 USA: Pennsylvania Moves Forward with Recreational Cannabis Legislation

On May 6, 2025, the Pennsylvania state legislature approved a bill to legalize the recreational use of cannabis. The bill includes restrictions such as limiting THC content to a maximum of 25% in flower and 5 milligrams per serving in edible products. This initiative aims to boost tax revenue and reduce reliance on the black market.

🌿 Thailand’s Cannabis Policy 2025: Moving Forward or Backward?

Over the past year, Thailand has embraced cannabis freedom by removing it from the narcotics list. But in 2025, the government is considering new regulations that could impact dispensaries, consumers, and the entire industry.

📌 What Might Change?

✅ Stricter Licensing for Dispensaries – Shops may require more rigorous permits
✅ Recreational Use Restrictions – Tighter regulations could be imposed
✅ New Legal Penalties – Public consumption might be further restricted

🎯 What’s Next for Cannabis in Thailand?

Despite potential restrictions, Thailand’s cannabis industry continues to grow with demand from both locals and tourists. If new policies still allow room for business, we might see an industry that’s more structured and internationally recognized.
