- CONCEPTUAL DESIGN -
จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช เป็นพื้นที่ที่ “ความเชื่อ” และ “ความศรัทธา” มิได้ดำรงอยู่เพียงในระดับของความคิดหรือจิตสำนึก หากแต่หยั่งรากลึกลงในวิถีชีวิต พิธีกรรม ตลอดจนโครงสร้างเชิงพื้นที่ของเมืองอย่างแนบแน่น ศรัทธาของผู้คนถูกหล่อหลอมผ่านกาลเวลา อันยาวนาน จากรากฐานของพหุศาสนาที่ผสานเข้ากับความเชื่อพื้นถิ่น เกิดเป็นระบบความหมายที่ซับซ้อนและมีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว ซึ่งสะท้อนออกมาในรูปแบบของสถานที่ สัญลักษณ์ และการปฏิบัติที่สืบทอดกันมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง “ความเชื่อ” จึงอาจเป็นสิ่งที่ไม่อาจมองเห็นหรือจับต้องได้โดยตรง เป็นนามธรรมที่ดำรงอยู่ภายในจิตใจของผู้คน แต่ “ความศรัทธา” กลับปรากฏชัดผ่านการแสดงออก ไม่ว่าจะเป็นพิธีกรรม การเดินทางแสวงบุญ การจัดวางพื้นที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ หรือแม้กระทั่งการดำเนินชีวิตประจำวัน พื้นที่ของนครศรีธรรมราชจึงมิได้เป็นเพียงฉากหลังของประวัติศาสตร์ หากแต่เป็น “ภูมิทัศน์ของศรัทธา” (Landscape of Faith) ที่ซึ่งนามธรรมถูกแปรเปลี่ยนให้เป็นรูปธรรม ผ่านสถาปัตยกรรม เมือง และประสบการณ์ร่วมของผู้คน และยังคงดำรงอยู่อย่างมีชีวิตชีวาแม้กาลเวลาจะเปลี่ยนผ่าน ความลึกซึ้งของความเชื่อและศรัทธานี้สะท้อนออกมาอย่างชัดเจนผ่านศิลปะ วัฒนธรรม และภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ไม่ว่าจะเป็นความศรัทธาต่อ วัดพระมหาธาตุวรมหาวิหาร ซึ่งทำหน้าที่เป็นศูนย์กลางทางจิตวิญญาณของเมืองมาอย่างยาวนาน หรือการถ่ายทอดเรื่องราว ความเชื่อ และคติชนผ่านศิลปะพื้นบ้าน เช่น หนังตะลุง มโนราห์ เครื่องถม และลวดลายศิลปกรรมภาคใต้ สิ่งเหล่านี้ไม่ได้เป็นเพียง “ผลผลิตทางวัฒนธรรม” แต่เป็น “ตัวกลางของศรัทธา” ที่แปรเปลี่ยนความเชื่อให้กลายเป็นรูปแบบที่มองเห็น สัมผัส และตีความได้
ศูนย์ส่งเสริมการออกแบบ TCDC จึงมิได้ถูกมองเพียงในฐานะอาคารหรือพื้นที่ใช้งาน แต่ถูกวางบทบาทให้เป็น “พื้นที่แปลงความหมาย” (Meaning Transformation Space) ที่ทำหน้าที่ถอดรหัสและตีความ “ความเชื่อและศรัทธา” ซึ่งเป็นนามธรรม ให้กลายเป็น “ศรัทธาสร้างสรรค์” (Creative Faith) ที่สามารถต่อยอดเป็นงานออกแบบร่วมสมัยได้อย่างมีบริบท สถาปัตยกรรมจึงทำหน้าที่เป็นสื่อกลางระหว่างอดีตและอนาคต เป็นพื้นที่เชื่อมโยงระหว่างภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นกับกระบวนการออกแบบสมัยใหม่ มากไปกว่านั้นพื้นที่ดังกล่าวยังเป็นเวทีของการเรียนรู้ การทดลอง และการแลกเปลี่ยน ที่เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้คนได้เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการตีความศรัทธาในรูปแบบใหม่ ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นผ่านนิทรรศการ งานออกแบบ หรือกิจกรรมสร้างสรรค์ที่เชื่อมโยงกับรากทางวัฒนธรรมเดิม การออกแบบจึงไม่ใช่เพียงการสร้างสิ่งใหม่ แต่เป็นการ “ต่อความหมาย” (Continuity of Meaning) จากอดีตสู่ปัจจุบัน นครศรีธรรมราชจึงมิใช่เพียงเมืองแห่งประวัติศาสตร์หรือศูนย์กลางทางศาสนา หากแต่เป็นพื้นที่ที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงพลังของ “ความเชื่อ” ที่หล่อหลอม “ความศรัทธา” และพลังของ “ความศรัทธา” ที่สามารถแปรเปลี่ยนเป็น “ความคิดสร้างสรรค์” ได้อย่างไม่สิ้นสุด เป็นเมืองที่นามธรรมและรูปธรรมหลอมรวมกันอย่างแนบแน่น และยังคงเป็นแรงบันดาลใจสำคัญต่อการออกแบบในโลกปัจจุบันและอนาคตอย่างยั่งยืน
- FACADE DESIGN / OUTDOOR SPACE -
พื้นที่ภายนอกอาคารถูกออกแบบให้เป็น “Activity Space” ที่รองรับการใช้งานหลากหลายรูปแบบ ทั้งในเชิงสาธารณะและวัฒนธรรม พร้อมทำหน้าที่เป็นพื้นที่เปลี่ยนผ่าน (Transition Space) ที่เชื่อมโยงจากภายนอกเข้าสู่ภายในอาคารอย่างต่อเนื่อง ลักษณะของพื้นที่ทำหน้าที่เสมือนเป็น facadeเชิงพื้นที่ (Spatial Facade) ที่ช่วยขับเน้นอัตลักษณ์ของอาคารหลักให้โดดเด่นยิ่งขึ้น การออกแบบเลือกใช้วัสดุที่สอดคล้องกับบริบทโดยรอบ ผสานความร่วมสมัยเข้ากับกลิ่นอายท้องถิ่น ผ่านจังหวะของโครงสร้างและผิวสัมผัสที่สะท้อนภูมิปัญญาและวิถีชีวิตของพื้นที่ รูปแบบชายคาที่ลาดต่ำลงสู่ระดับสายตา ไม่เพียงทำหน้าที่เชิงภูมิอากาศ แต่ยังแฝงนัยยะเชิงสัญลักษณ์ที่สื่อถึง “ความนอบน้อม” การลดทอนตัวตน สร้างประสบการณ์เชิงพื้นที่ทางจิตใจ การสอดแทรกองค์ประกอบของธรรมชาติ ทั้งแสง เงา และพื้นที่สีเขียว ช่วยเสริมสร้างบรรยากาศ เกิดเป็นสภาวะที่เอื้อต่อการหยุดพัก การสังเกต และการใคร่ครวญ ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับแนวคิดของ “การสะท้อนทางจิตใจ” พื้นที่ภายนอกนี้จึงทำหน้าที่มากกว่าการรองรับกิจกรรม หากแต่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของประสบการณ์เชิงจิตวิญญาณ ที่ค่อย ๆ นำพาผู้คนเข้าสู่ภายใน ผ่านกระบวนการรับรู้ที่ละเอียดอ่อน สร้างความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาปัตยกรรม บริบท และศรัทธา ให้หลอมรวมเป็นหนึ่งเดียวอย่างกลมกลืนและมีความหมายในทุกย่างก้าวของการใช้งาน
- SPIRITUAL LAB -
“Spiritual Lab” คือพื้นที่แห่งการทดลองและต่อยอด ที่มุ่งความเป็นไปได้ใหม่ของ “ความเชื่อ” และ “ความศรัทธา” ในบริบทร่วมสมัย ผ่านกระบวนการออกแบบเชิงทดลอง (Experimental Design) เพื่อแปรเปลี่ยนนามธรรมทางจิตใจ ให้กลายเป็นรูปธรรมที่เข้าถึงได้ง่าย สอดคล้องกับวิถีชีวิตของผู้คนในแต่ละยุคสมัยที่เปลี่ยนแปลงอยู่ตลอดเวลาพื้นที่นี้ทำหน้าที่เสมือน ห้องปฏิบัติการที่เปิดโอกาสให้เกิดการตีความ สร้างสรรค์ และพัฒนา “รูปแบบใหม่ของความศรัทธา” โดยยังคงรักษาแก่นแท้ของความรู้สึก และประสบการณ์ภายในที่มนุษย์มีต่อสิ่งยึดเหนี่ยวทางจิตใจไว้อย่างลึกซึ้ง กระบวนการออกแบบภายใน Spiritual Lab จึงเน้นการบูรณาการอัตลักษณ์เชิงสัญลักษณ์ (Symbolic Identity) เข้ากับมรดกทางวัฒนธรรม และภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น เพื่อสร้างสินค้าและนวัตกรรมที่สามารถ “เล่าเรื่องความเชื่อ” ในรูปแบบร่วมสมัยได้อย่างมีความหมาย นอกจากนี้พื้นที่ยังทำหน้าที่เป็นแพลตฟอร์มของการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการ (Service Design) ที่เชื่อมโยงกับการดูแลจิตใจ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นกิจกรรมการฝึกสมาธิ การผ่อนคลาย หรือการสำรวจและทำความเข้าใจตนเอง ซึ่งล้วนเป็นกระบวนการที่ช่วยเสริมสร้างสมดุลภายใน และเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ใช้งานได้เชื่อมต่อกับ “ศรัทธาในแบบของตนเอง” อย่างสร้างสรรค์และเป็นรูปธรรม Spiritual Lab จึงเป็น “ พื้นที่ของการรับรู้ และการแปรรูปความศรัทธา ” ที่เชื่อมโยงระหว่างอดีต ปัจจุบัน และอนาคต เข้าด้วยกัน ผ่านการออกแบบที่เปิดกว้าง ยืดหยุ่น และเปี่ยมด้วยความหมาย พร้อมเป็นสื่อกลางในการขับเคลื่อนใหม่ระหว่างมนุษย์ ความเชื่อ และสังคมร่วมสมัยอย่างต่อเนื่อง
- CONCEPTUAL DESIGN -
Nakhon Si Thammarat Province is a place where “belief” and “faith” do not reside merely at the level of thought or consciousness, but are deeply rooted in the way of life, rituals, and spatial structure of the city. The faith of the people has been shaped over a long period of time, stemming from the roots of multi-religionism blended with local beliefs, creating a complex and unique system of meaning. This is reflected in places, symbols, and practices passed down through generations. “Belief” may therefore be something invisible or intangible, an abstract entity residing within the minds of people. However, “faith” is evident through its expressions, whether in rituals, pilgrimages, the placement of sacred spaces, or even in daily life. Nakhon Si Thammarat is thus not merely a backdrop to history, but a “Landscape of Faith,” where abstract concepts are transformed into tangible forms through architecture, the city, and the shared experiences of its people, and which continue to thrive vibrantly even as time passes. This profound depth of belief and faith is clearly reflected in art, culture, and local wisdom, such as the faith in Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, which has long served as the spiritual center of the city. Or the transmission of stories, beliefs, and folklore through folk arts such as shadow puppetry, Manora dance, niello ware, and Southern Thai artistic patterns. These are not merely “cultural products,” but “mediums of faith” that transform beliefs into visible, tangible, and interpretable forms.
Therefore, the TCDC Design Center is not viewed simply as a building or functional space, but is positioned as a “Meaning Transformation Space” that decodes and interprets “belief and faith,” abstract concepts, into “creative faith” that can be further developed into contemporary design with context. Architecture thus serves as a bridge between the past and the future, a space connecting local wisdom with modern design processes. Moreover, this space is a platform for learning, experimentation, and exchange, opening opportunities for people to participate in reinterpreting faith in new ways, whether through exhibitions, designs, or creative activities that connect with the original cultural roots. Design, therefore, is not just about creating something new, but about “continuing meaning” from the past to the present. Nakhon Si Thammarat is not merely a city of history or a religious center. However, it is a space that demonstrates the power of “belief” that molds “faith,” and the power of “faith” that can transform into endless “creativity.” It is a city where the abstract and the concrete are intimately intertwined, and it continues to be a significant inspiration for design in the present and future.
- FACADE DESIGN / OUTDOOR SPACE -
The exterior space is designed as an “Activity Space” that accommodates various uses, both public and cultural, while serving as a transition space that seamlessly connects the exterior to the interior of the building. The space functions as a spatial facade, highlighting the main building's identity. The design uses materials that are in harmony with the surrounding context, blending contemporary elements with local influences through the rhythm of structures and textures that reflect the wisdom and way of life of the area. The low-sloping eaves, approaching eye level, not only serve a climatic function but also carry symbolic meanings conveying “humility,” minimizing ego, and creating a spatial experience. The integration of natural elements such as light, shadow, and green space enhances the atmosphere. This creates a conducive environment for pause, observation, and reflection, aligning with the concept of “mental reflection.” This outdoor space thus serves more than just a venue for activities; it is the starting point of a spiritual experience that gradually guides people inward through subtle sensory processes. It fosters a harmonious and meaningful connection between architecture, context, and faith at every step of its use.
- SPIRITUAL LAB -
“Spiritual Lab” is a space for experimentation and development, exploring new possibilities for “belief” and “faith” in a contemporary context. Through experimental design, it transforms abstract mental concepts into tangible, accessible forms, reflecting the ever-changing lifestyles of people across generations. This space functions as a laboratory, opening opportunities for interpretation, creation, and development of “new forms of faith,” while preserving the core feelings and inner experiences that humans deeply connect with their spiritual anchors. The design process within Spiritual Lab emphasizes the integration of symbolic identity with cultural heritage and local wisdom to create products and innovations that meaningfully “tell the story of belief” in a contemporary format. Furthermore, the space serves as a platform for product and service design related to mental well-being, including activities such as meditation, relaxation, and self-exploration and understanding. These processes foster inner balance and allow users to connect with their own faith in a creative and tangible way. Spiritual Lab is therefore a "space for the perception and transformation of faith."........................................................
