Across the 50 adults-only villas at Akra Didim, the buildings were conceived in direct relation to the site’s natural levels and existing vegetation. Landscape was approached not as a secondary layer surrounding the architecture, but as the primary connection between the structures and their geography.

The layout follows the terrain through natural-stone terraces and gradual level transitions. Reusing stone recovered from the project site allows the natural character of the terrain to continue throughout the landscape, while permeable planted boundaries provide privacy without isolating each villa from its wider setting.

A climate-responsive Mediterranean planting palette extends the character of the existing maquis landscape. Cupressus sempervirens ‘Pyramidalis’ introduces a strong vertical rhythm, while Olea europaea establishes the principal tree character. Drought-tolerant shrubs, aromatic species and wind-responsive grasses create a lighter, seasonal layer between the stone surfaces.

The result is a calm and private living environment that keeps the site’s geology, vegetation and topographical memory visible.

Located at Akra Didim, Salkım À La Carte Restaurant is organised around a central spatial spine connecting the kitchen and dining areas. Through wide openings, daylight, landscape and planting become an integral part of the interior experience.

The material palette draws from the warm and natural character of its setting. Textured plaster surfaces in earthy tones are paired with solid timber beams, ceiling elements and furniture, while light natural stone surfaces create a calm and continuous backdrop. Blue glazed ceramic tiles along the bar introduce a distinctive yet balanced accent to the otherwise natural palette. Woven pendant lights, tactile fabrics and planting complete the soft, timeless atmosphere.

Throughout the day, the timber structure casts shifting patterns of light and shadow across the space, gradually dissolving the boundaries between interior, architecture and landscape.

Salkım Restaurant at Akra Didim. Axonometric and Plan Views.

At Akra Didim, Salkım Restaurant is conceived as a sequence of interconnected spaces in which the signature bar, lounge and à la carte restaurant are integrated with the site’s topography and landscape rather than treated as separate programmatic elements.

The preserved existing staircase defines the arrival from the upper level, while the circulation continues through the bar and lounge areas towards the restaurant terraces, vineyard garden and sea view. The fragmented organization of the architectural volumes creates courtyards, transitional spaces and planted layers between them, establishing a permeable relationship between interior and exterior.

Planted roof surfaces extend the landscape across the architecture, while vertical vegetation strengthens orientation between different levels. Read together, the plan and axonometric drawing reveal an integrated system in which architectural program, user movement and landscape are developed as parts of a single spatial composition.

Salkım Restaurant is one of the rare projects where TTds designed not only the landscape but also the architecture, is designed as a landscape-integrated gastronomic experience within the sloping topography of Akra Didim.

Rather than forming a single architectural mass, the restaurant, Signature Bar and Lounge are dispersed across the terrain as independent yet connected spatial layers. Each volume carries its own identity while contributing to a shared language shaped by Aegean living culture, gastronomy and landscape.

Elevated on a pilotis system, the Salkım À la Carte Restaurant preserves the continuity of the existing vegetation beneath, allowing stone, shadow and planting to become part of the architectural experience. Natural stone walls, warm textured plaster, timber beams, hanging green layers and aromatic planting define a calm atmosphere rooted in locality.

From the entrance sequence framed by natural stone walls and starling sculptures, to the vineyard structure, terracotta planters, preserved trees and ecological roof surfaces, every element is conceived as part of a continuous landscape narrative.

Salkım Restaurant brings together architecture, gastronomy and nature without separation; creating an experiential corridor along the Aegean coast, where movement, view, scent and materiality become part of the dining experience.

Serapool Porselen’in davetiyle Pendik’te üretimin izini sürdüğümüz, fabrikadan showroom’a uzanan özel bir gün geçirdik.

At Akra Didim, pool design was approached not merely as a structure that holds water, but as a spatial experience integrated with topography, landscape and the view.

Following the natural slope of the land, the terraced pools were designed not as independent elements placed onto the site, but as a natural continuation of the geography itself. Along the long edges facing the sea, infinity overflow details were used to create the feeling of water merging with the horizon.

Beige-toned porcelain surfaces, natural marble overflow stones and a restrained material palette create a calm atmosphere that reflects light and sky rather than defining the color of the water. As the light changes throughout the day, the pool surface becomes one of the most powerful and sensory architectural elements of the space.

In the planting design, instead of a tropical resort language, the natural character of Akra Didim’s own geography was taken as the main reference. Olive trees, cypresses, maquis vegetation, Stipa and Leymus species make the wind, time and the quiet rhythm of the Aegean landscape visible.

The aim of the lighting design was not to alter the night, but to preserve its natural darkness. Warm 2700K lighting delicately completes the nighttime experience of the water and landscape.

At Akra Didim, water, landscape and architecture were not designed as separate elements, but as complementary parts of the same story. Because a good pool does not merely hold water; it reflects the spirit of its geography.

At Akra Didim, landscape becomes an essential part of the hotel experience. The project is shaped through a sensitive reading of the site’s natural topography, coastal character, stone terraces and existing vegetation. Rather than placing the architecture onto the land, the design follows the rhythm of the terrain and creates a layered relationship between the built environment and the Aegean landscape. Green roofs, pool areas, planted terraces, pedestrian routes and coastal edges are designed as parts of one continuous landscape system. Each level offers a different experience swimming, resting, gathering, walking or simply looking toward the sea. From the site plan to Salkım Restaurant and the pool landscapes, Akra Didim reflects TTDS’s approach to creating spaces that are connected to their geography, shaped by nature and integrated with the overall hotel experience.
