I thought this extreme otherworldly beauty could only have been created by AI - but no it’s the Fonte de Sagalassos (or Fountain of Sagalassos) referring to an ancient Roman fountain located in the archaeological site of Sagalassos, in modern-day southwestern Turkey. Sagalassos was an important city in the Roman province of Pisidia and is notable for its well-preserved ruins.

The fountain itself, sometimes called the Nymphaeum, is a particularly impressive feature of the site. It is characterized by its monumental scale and elaborate design, typical of Roman engineering and architecture. The fountain was a public water source that not only provided water but also served as an ornamental structure to demonstrate the wealth and sophistication of the city.

Built during the Roman Imperial period, the Fountain of Sagalassos would have been adorned with statues, intricate carvings, and flowing water features.
