Avoid taxi travel in İstanbul!
You will be scammed 98%. If there is any problem, call the Police. If you can't call the Police, you should want to help from anyone passing by on the street, they will help to you.

Use public transport. There is a metro from the airports to the city center. Buy "IstanbulKart" from machines. The price is 50 TL. You also need to charge money. You can use this card in all public transportation vehicles in Istanbul. It is both very cheap and there is a discount if you get on different vehicles within 2 hours (if you use it for a 2nd person, you will not be entitled to a discount).
