Celebrating the Republic Day.
When the Republic was proclaimed in 1923, architectural education in Turkey was still in its infancy. Modern training had begun with the establishment of the Hendese-i Mülkiye School in 1883, and between 1910 and 1923, only about 60–70 graduates held the title of “architect” or “architect-engineer.” At the time, most building activity across the country still relied on the master–apprentice tradition.
And it was those architects, engineers, technicians, masters, and apprentices who worked with unwavering faith and dedication to rebuild the country.
