We are happy to announce the studio work is published at Process, Pratt yearly book ! work “The Leisure Institute” Studio proposes an alternative future where AI technologies liberate us from bureaucratic and repetitive tasks, allowing us to have more time for meaningful activities.
The studio engages practical skills to utilize generative techniques and AI tools in creating site-specific and unique structures while critiquing contemporary challenges in social communities. The Leisure Institute also takes a critical approach to contemporary architecture by exploring the connections between humans and the environment. It challenges the traditional view of architecture, creating entities rather than continuities by highlighting our potential role as modifiers of existing environments. The institute promotes a deeper understanding of our relationship with topography, geology, and natural formations.

IZMIR METROPOLITAN CITY HALL PROJECT
Located in the heart of Izmir at Konak Square, our new metropolitan city hall building project re-establishes a dialogue with the historical texture (Clock Tower & Yalı Mosque) and the modernist axis of Cumhuriyet Boulevard.
Designed upon the traces of the demolished structure, the project proposes a new urban interface that connects the square with the coastline through public permeability on the ground floor, a climate-responsive inner courtyard, and a massing strategy that steps back to respect the historical silhouette.
More than just an administrative building; it serves as a democratic and accessible public stop that integrates into the daily life of Izmir through its “Forum,” “Internal Street”, “Exhibition Halls”, “Sea Terrace,” and transparent council chamber.

İzmir’in kalbi Konak Meydanı’nda; kentsel hafızanın katmanlarına eklemlenen, tarihi doku (Saat Kulesi & Yalı Camii) ve Cumhuriyet Bulvarı aksıyla diyaloğunu yeniden kuran yeni hizmet binası projemiz kamuoyuyla paylaşıldı.
Yıkılan yapının izleri üzerinde kurgulanan tasarım; zemin kattaki kamusal geçirgenliği, iklimsel verilerle şekillenen iç avlusu ve tarihi silüete saygı duruşu niteliğindeki geri çekilmiş kütle kurgusuyla, meydanı denizle ve Kemeraltı ile ilişkilendiren yeni bir arayüz öneriyor.
Sadece bir idari yapı değil; “Forum”, “Sanat Sokağı“, “Sergi Alanları”, “Kent Terası” ve şeffaf meclis kurgusuyla İzmirlilerin günlük yaşamına dahil olan, demokratik ve erişilebilir bir kamusal durak.

ENG/TR PORTAL is conceived as a contemporary curiosity cabinet that blurs the threshold between the real and the surreal through the agency of screens. In a context where digital flows increasingly mediate architectural perception, the installation reframes the screen as an autonomous architectural element. Rather than functioning merely as a surface of display, it operates as a scenographic device that transposes the static presence of architecture into cinematic sequences by employing selected images from film history.

While evoking the surreal, the installation simultaneously exposes the structural framework that sustains it; thus, both the represented and the medium of representation remain co-present. The viewer not only encounters an image but also becomes aware of the conditions of its construction.

PORTAL, ekranlar aracılığıyla gerçek ile gerçeküstü arasındaki sınırı bulanıklaştıran çağdaş bir “curiosity cabinet” olarak tasarlanmıştır. Dijital akışların mimari algıyı giderek daha fazla belirlediği bir bağlamda, yerleştirme ekranı yalnızca bir görüntüleme yüzeyi olmaktan çıkarır; onu özerk bir mimari öğe olarak yeniden tanımlar. Ekran, mimarinin durağan varlığını hareketli sekanslara dönüştüren bir anlatı aracı işlevi görür ve bu dönüşüm, film tarihinden seçilmiş imgelerin yeniden bağlamsallaştırılmasıyla gerçekleşir.

Gerçeküstü bir atmosfer kurarken PORTAL, aynı zamanda bu deneyimi mümkün kılan yapısal çerçeveyi de açığa çıkarır. Böylece hem temsil edilen görüntü hem de temsili mümkün kılan araç eşzamanlı olarak görünür hale gelir. İzleyici yalnızca bir imgeyle karşılaşmakla kalmaz; aynı zamanda o imgenin nasıl kurulduğuna, yani temsilin kendi koşullarına da tanıklık eder.

ENG/TR Located in Hawthorne, California, P-House tells the story of a single-story 1,720 SF home transformed into a 3,120 SF two-story residence — all without damaging the existing structure. While the wooden structural system reinforces sustainability, our design approach is guided by the principle of “maximum efficiency through minimum intervention.” By harmoniously integrating the new with the old, we created a living space that is both environmentally conscious and architecturally cohesive.

Hawthorne, California’da yer alan P-House, 160 m²’lik tek katlı bir evin, mevcut yapıya zarar vermeden 290 m²’lik iki katlı bir konuta dönüşüm hikâyesidir. Ahşap taşıyıcı sistem sürdürülebilirliği desteklerken, tasarım yaklaşımımız “minimum müdahale ile maksimum verimlilik” ilkesine dayanmaktadır. Yeniyi eskiyle uyumlu bir şekilde bir araya getirerek, çevreye duyarlı ve mimari açıdan bütüncül bir yaşam alanı ortaya çıkarılmıştır.

ENG/TR Museum of Istanbul wins The International Architecture and Architizer A+ Awards!

We’d like to share a special moment for us at the Museum of Istanbul.

We’ve reached a key milestone in construction — the project’s distinctive façade, composed of uniquely designed and digitally fabricated components, has now come together on-site. Seeing long-developed ideas take physical form has been deeply rewarding.

At the same time, the project has been honored with an International Architecture Award 2025, one of the world’s foremost architecture programs organized by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

As a note, the Museum has previously received the Architizer A+ Award, been included in the Europe 40 Under 40 selection, exhibited at the Danish Cultural Center’s “Commons and Communities” show.

İstanbul Müzesi, The International Architecture ve Architizer A+ Awards ödüllerini kazandı!

Projenin cephesinde kritik bir aşamayı tamamladık; her biri özel olarak tasarlanmış ve dijital yöntemlerle üretilmiş parçalar nihayet sahada bir araya geldi. Uzun süredir üzerinde çalıştığımız fikirlerin somut biçime dönüştüğünü görmek bizim için çok değerli.

Tam da bu süreçte proje, The International Architecture Awards 2025 kapsamında uluslararası bir ödüle layık görüldü.

Müze bugüne kadar Architizer A+ Award kazanmış, Europe 40 Under 40 seçkisinde yer almış, Danimarka Kültür Merkezi’nin “Commons and Communities” sergisinde sergilenmiş ve çok sayıda uluslararası yayında yer bulmuştur.
