Space Debris is a multi-purpose art space in Karaköy, Istanbul, and a project platform especially active between Istanbul and New York. The inspiration behind the initiative is a theory known as the “Kessler Syndrome”: Kessler argues that stardust floating around the Earth--also known as space debris--can form a new orbit through a chance encounter with extra-orbital satellite and planet fragments
. Considering each visitor to Space Debris as a cloud of itinerant stardust, one can imagine the eventual forging of new orbits or artistic currents through exposure to events and exhibitions here. The Space also features an operating darkroom for analog lovers to use.

Space Debris, Karaköy’de çok amaçlı bir sanat mekânı ve özellikle İstanbul-New York hattında etkin bir proje platformu. Kessler, “uzay enkazı” olarak bilinen dünyanın etrafında birikmiş başı boş yıldız tozlarının, yörüngeden çıkmış uydu ve gezegen parçalarına rastlamasıyla yeni bir yörünge yaratma olasılığından bahseder. Space Debris’ye gelecek olan ziyaretçilerin her biri, bir yıldız tozu gibi düşünülüp, burada deneyimledikleri sanat olayları sayesinde yeni bir yörünge, yeni bir akım oluşturmaları hayal edildi. Sergi ve etkinlik alanı olarak kullanılmasının yanı sıra, bünyesinde workshoplar da düzenleyen Space Debris, kolektif ruhun sanat paylaşımındaki önemine inanıyor.
