Great news!

'Bostanlı Footbridge & Sunset Lounge' has been awarded at the 'East Centric Arhitext Awards 2019', an awards programme which was organized parallel with the 'Bucharest East Centric Architecture Triennale'.
The project has been awarded at the 'Exterior Design' category following the live presentation on the 19th of October at UAUIM (Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism). Other winners on all categories are as follows:

The 3rd edition of the Bucharest Triennale for East Centric Architecture took place in October, 7th - 20th, 2019. The Triennale was organised by the Arhitext Design Foundation, editor of the Architext magazine, in partnership with the Romanian Order of Architects, the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, the Union of Romanian Architects and the Brâncovan Palaces Cultural Center of Mogoșoaia. The main topic of this edition, HOME|any|more|?, proposed an interrogative approach of the possibility of being at home in today’s world.

Evren Başbuğ is Teaching at TED University!

Evren Başbuğ is teaching at TED University / Faculty of Architecture in the fall semester of the academic year 2019-2020. He will be a visiting part-time studio instructor for the 4th year architecture studio; ARCH 401. The other members of the studio are:

With the title 'ECO-X: Architectures of Encounter for Environmental Exigencies', the studio will focus on multiple areas on the waterfront of the Gulf of İzmit. With a precedence and emphasis on current ecological and environmental issues; the students will be dealing with a large scale and mix-use design problem in a metropolitan area subject to complex urban and environmental conditions.

We are excited to announce that our founding partner and creative director Evren Başbuğ has been selected as one of the 14 young (under 40) architects for the 'Young Architects Selection & Exhibition' (GEMSS) organized by 'The Circle'!

Young Architects Selection & Exhibition aims to record individual and collective production of young architects and present it through the national and international platforms. It also intends to become a new platform for contemporary architectural thought. Planned to be organized every year in the same period, GEMSS’s intention is to provide a multidisciplinary environment for creative projects of young Turkish architects. GEMMS will also build an archive of architectural practices by tracing and recording the concepts and ideas in the selected works. In this way GEMSS aims to become one of the major events that serve to promote the architectural culture in Turkey. GEMSS will also host parallel panels and talks. The accumulation of ideas and concepts gained through the process will be shared through online publications and through a book of the selected projects.

The first edition of GEMSS will be curated by Sait Ali Köknar, whereas the jury consists of professional architects as well as artists, academicians and business representatives from the sector. The jury for GEMSS 2019 consists of Antonio Cosentino (Painter), Cem Sorguç (CM Architecture, Co-Founder), Dürrin Süer (M+D Architecture, Co-Founder), Hüseyin Kahvecioğlu, (Ass. Prof. Dr., İTÜ, The Department of Architecture), Murat Tabanlıoğlu (Tabanlıoğlu Architects, Co-Owner), Serdar Güçar (Hill International Vice President) and Zuhal Ulusoy (Prof. Dr., İstanbul Bilgi University, The Dean of The Faculty of Architecture).

GEMSS exhibition will take place in The Circle between 5 September - 12 October 2019. Later, between 1 - 30 June 2020 it will be shown in RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) as part of London Festival of Architecture.

'Bostanlı Footbridge & Sunset Lounge' has been nominated for 'East Centric Arhitext Awards 2019', an awards programme which is organized parallel with the 'Bucharest Triennale for East Centric Architecture 2019'.

The project will compete in the 'Exterior Design' category. The live presentation is scheduled on the 19th of October, 16:00hr (Bucharest local time) at UAUIM (Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism).

Great news!

We are excited to announce that our curatorial proposal for the Pavilion of Turkey at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition (La Biennale di Venezia), 'Emergent Vernacular/ism/s' has been shortlisted! The shortlisted proposals have been selected by an international jury through an open call organised by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV)!

We will now work hard again to extend our research further; and come up with a developed proposal hopefully to make it to Venice in 2020!

Established in 1895, la Biennale di Venezia has for over a century been one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Turkey participated in the International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia for the first time in 1991. In 2014, on the initiation of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and with the gracious support of 21 sponsors, Turkey obtained a long-term venue in la Biennale di Venezia. The allotment of 20 years (from 2014 to 2034) at Sale d’Armi, Arsenale, one of the two main venues of the event, allowed the Pavilion of Turkey to take part for the first time in 2014 in the International Architecture Exhibition.
