【CYPRESS –世界海洋日】

每年的 6 月 8 日是世界海洋日。這個日子源於 1992 年里約地球高峰會中提出的倡議，後來由聯合國正式承認，提醒人們關注海洋對地球生命的重要性，也思考人類與海洋之間應有的關係。

海洋覆蓋地球大部分面積，孕育無數生命，也調節氣候、供應氧氣，維繫著我們熟悉卻常被忽略的日常。當珊瑚逐漸白化、海洋塑膠污染增加、許多海洋生物的棲地受到威脅，海洋的美麗便不再只是遠方的風景，而是需要被理解與守護的現實。

真正珍貴的美，從來不是取之不盡。世界海洋日提醒我們，珍惜海洋可以從日常開始：減少一次性塑膠、降低不必要的浪費、尊重自然資源，都是守護海洋的一部分。

CYPRESS 以工藝記錄自然，也願以書寫留下對海洋的敬意。願海洋的生命與光彩，能在我們的選擇中延續到更遠的未來。

【CYPRESS – World Ocean Day】

June 8 each year is World Ocean Day. This day originated from an initiative proposed at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and was later officially recognized by the United Nations. It reminds us to pay attention to the importance of the ocean to life on Earth, and to reflect on the relationship humanity should have with the sea.
The ocean covers most of our planet. It nurtures countless forms of life, regulates the climate, produces oxygen, and sustains the everyday world we know yet often overlook. As coral reefs gradually bleach, plastic pollution increases, and the habitats of many marine species come under threat, the beauty of the ocean is no longer merely a distant landscape, but a reality that needs to be understood and protected.

True beauty is never something to be taken for granted. World Ocean Day reminds us that cherishing the ocean can begin in our daily lives: reducing single-use plastics, cutting down unnecessary waste, and respecting natural resources are all part of protecting the sea.

CYPRESS records nature through craftsmanship, and also hopes to leave a tribute to the ocean through writing. May the life and radiance of the sea continue into a farther future through the choices we make today.

【CYPRESS－竹編之趣】

竹編自帶天然的節奏感，經緯交錯之間，不同排列形成截然不同的視覺效果。

我們第一次將竹編結構運用在筆身之上，並嘗試幾種不同的編法。從選竹、剖竹、削篾到整篾，每一道工序都影響最終紋理的穩定與精度。

此次包含帶有呼吸節奏的「疏密編」，在規律中產生變化；橫向節奏明確的「橫紋編」，以及圖騰感鮮明的「格紋編」。完成的編織需進一步貼合於筆管曲面，使平面竹編轉化為環形連續結構。

竹材具有彈性與記憶性，貼合過程需反覆調整，使編織不鬆不緊，維持整體穩定。從材料處理到完成，往往需要將近一個月的時間。

【CYPRESS – The Pleasure of Bamboo Weaving】

Bamboo weaving carries a natural rhythm.Through the interlacing of warp and weft, different arrangements create distinctly varied visual expressions.

This marks our first attempt to apply bamboo weaving to a pen body, exploring several weaving patterns. From selecting the bamboo, splitting, shaving into fine strips, to refining each piece, every step influences the final precision and stability of the pattern.

This series includes the Rhythm Weave, where variations in density introduce a subtle sense of movement; the Band Weave, with its clear horizontal direction; and the Grid Weave, with a more pronounced graphic character.The completed weave is then carefully fitted onto the curved surface of the pen, transforming a flat structure into a continuous cylindrical form.

Bamboo naturally carries both flexibility and memory, requiring repeated adjustments to ensure the weave remains balanced—neither too tight nor too loose. From material preparation to completion, each piece takes nearly a month to achieve a stable structure and refined texture.
