This chronology is a chronology of major events in British history, mainly national (political) history.

prehistory
According to archaeological findings, there were already ancestors living in Britain in the Paleolithic Age (about 130,000 to 350,000 years ago), and the main ethnic group was the Swanscome and so on.

8000 BC: Beginning of the Mesolithic Age
2500 BC: Beginning of the Neolithic Age
2000 BC: Celts appear in Brittany.
900 BC: Celts appear in England; Irish civilization emerges.
Roman times
55 BC: Roman general Caesar invades Britain.
54 BC: Roman general Caesar invades Britain for the second time. These two invasions are called "Caesar's invasion of Britain".
43: Claudius I annexes Britain to the Roman Empire.
122: Construction of Hadrian's Wall begins.
383: The Romans begin their withdrawal from Britain.
