AsMA is an acronym that has held many meanings and represented different people at different times. Currently, it mainly corresponds to activities in which Alessandro Martinelli is involved.
Previously involved in research projects and didactic activities at the Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio and the International Institute of Architecture in Lugano Vico Morcote, the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, the Barcelona Institute of Architecture, the Canadian Centre of Architecture in Montreal, the Archivio Cattaneo in Cernobbio, the Shih Chien University and the Huafan University in Taipei, Alessandro Martinelli, Ph.D., is Associate professor at the Department of Landscape architecture, the Chinese Culture University, Taipei. He is also the editorial director of ListLab Publisher (https://www.listlab.eu/), Chair of the IFLA (https://www.iflaworld.com/) World Education & Academic Affairs Committee, and immediate past chair of the IFLA Asia Pacific Region Education & Academic Affairs Committee. Finally, he mostly works with BIAS Architects & Associates (https://www.biasarchitects.com/) on design and curating projects concerning public space today.
That said, this page is dedicated to children's educational activities in architecture developed by AsMA; for any other activity, e.g., design, research, or curating, see bit.ly/44eSwON.
In particular, these children’s educational activities are developed together and under the creative leadership of the artist and architect Maria Lezhnina (https://marialezhnina.com/). Maria`s experience is particularly diverse, falling between research projects for the Swiss landscape to an exhibition at the Italian National Museum of 21st Century Arts on the impact of new energy systems, then teaching architecture and knowledge of space to the children with the Finnish school ARKKI, and working for design practices in Moscow (Russia), Mendrisio (Switzerland), Genova, Milan (Italy), Baku (Azerbaijan), and Taipei (Taiwan). This interdisciplinary background has made her interested in cross-cultural reading of space. Indeed, as artist, her work aims at altering the perception of the environment that it inhabits, either through reflexive physicality or unusual architectural structure, and it is characterized by a deep-rooted interest in the relationship between architecture, landscape, and human perception. She previously lectured at Huafan University, and was involved in didactic activities at Shih Chien University and the Chinese Culture University, Taipei.
