This right here...the reason to only use a licensed locksmith. There are many people out there claiming to be a locksmith....they are not. They are scammers. Scammers are a big part of this industry right now. They hurt us, the locksmith community, and it could hurt you when you need a service. Ask your friends, your local mechanical shop, read reviews before you call someone. A "true" locksmith MUST show up in a lettered vehicle, with license number and phone number on the vehicle, and should have a company shirt on.

This is why you hire a professional locksmith. There are alot of scammers out there, and this is what you get. Make sure who you hire shows up in a company vehicle with license info and phone number on it. Never pay before the job is started.

Most of the time it's just an oversight for prior owners to have keys after closing. But what about other family members, friends, previous contractors that might have keys? Always be safe and change your locks. Most of the time its quicker, easier, and less expensive to just rekey those door cylinders. And...bonus...you can rekey all the locks in the house to the same key. No need to have multiple keys for multiple doors.
